Been around for some time, as I understand it it is hardly a barn find. More a neglected collection

Yep I've seen some of this before, quite a lot of speculation and dodgy info about this it seems.

If you were to take a trip to Cyprus and find yourself in the heavily guarded, abandoned city of Famagusta there are car garages full of brand spanking new vehicles, from 1974. Its not as grand as finding this behind your welded shut barn, and it is entirely different circumstance.

I very much doubt that cars will still be in a dealership... These will have been taken and sold to other countries. If the country ever gets given back which it seems likely it will in the near future, the building will be set on fire and demolished as a cover up.

Aye, theres many of these types of web pages, that are just the tip of a large Iceberg. I couldn't find my link anywhere, there were pictures of dusty old cars, sat there waiting, and IIRC an underground carpark left with peoples prized vehicles, again dusty, waiting for owners to come take them.

Its a very bizarre state of affairs over there. Places truely are abandoned with treasures inside, others taken over by illegal occupants.

But alas this isn't the thread to be talking about politics of something unrelated;) I'm afraid I am only just beginning to discover about my sons heritage......its a bit like discovering an old barn find!

I have been on the guided tour through the "green zone" and actually been inside the underground garage. Most of the cars only have the mileage from the port on them and they are brand new cars (at the time) that were imported a few hours before it all kicked off. There are a couple of them that the UN guys have taken up to their compound and cleaned up.

It is quite humbling walking through the area that hasn't been touched for so many years.

I could say 'wow' or 'cool'. If it was in a different circumstance;). Its everyones dream to find some old cars, dusty from an age ago, waiting to be discovered:p

Positively though, this thread has brought up to subject of family heritage and what happens 'if' Cyprus is finally reunited. I'm beginning to discover about a history I knew nothing about, its a little sad tbh.
