Caution!! If you are at all bothered that somebody might actually collide with anything in this video, perhaps even be knocked over then here's a special link just for you;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlPb8vsvcoM&feature=related

ps. yep, I'm afraid the above things do unfortunately happen. I have not researched the continuing health of anybody involved in those accidents since they occured. Nothing especially gory in there, perhaps a few "ooooooohhh" moments though. Look away now kids, please check with the person who pays your internet bill before clicking.

Having spent many years in China

rule 1 never drive yourself, if in an accident (inevitable) the guilo is always guilty.

When crossing the road, never hesitate. They expect you to be there and to keep moving. By stopping you have confused them and will be knocked down.

Rule 2 Motorcycle taxis are nutters. avoid you WILL get hurt.

Personally I find it strange how a clip of someone having their head run over is within the U rating?

I think there should be at least a warning under the vid...

Granted I chose to watch the video but I wasn't expecting something like that in the video, what has been seen cannot be unseen and it made me feel not nice.

what exactly does a U rating mean these days? The link is to YouTube, not some sleezy gore web site.

that is entirely my point,

The clip is on U tube, it was re posted here, IMHO the content is not pleasant, given the general conciousness that running over someone's head would not be shown to a child I think the U rating has been stepped over, yes ok "what Is a U rating these days" that's for another day,

however it is up to the OP to select what they feel is suitable to re post given the content of the video, not just basing it on the fact its from U tube and passing of its content on the fact its from a third party website, which to the best of my knowledge does nor advertise itself as U safe.

I have held my hands up and said I shouldn't have continued to watch but in the same respect, I don't think this forum is the place for it to have been shared, even if I am very much in the minority,

Speaking as the OP, and taking into account what I think the accepted level of rating is on here by the general user population, I think it was/is fine.

My point about YouTube was not to absolve any responsibility, but that its far more widely accessed from a very wide range of devices and much more likely to find its way in front of a child. You cant park the U rating discussion 'for another day' and then use its very existence as the theme for a complaint.

Anyway, sorry that you didnt like it but at least it wasnt bombarded by a volley of Hitler posts eh.

Fair enough, I take responsibly for my actions of clicking watch, what I meant by parking the U rating argument was to me, this was so clearly not U rated it we didnt need to discuss the line of U rating... and to be honest I think were all pretty tired of that discussion.

I'd like to explain a bit, if I may.

Sometimes applying the U rating is very clear and easy - there are clear examples that I'm sure we could all suggest. At other times application of the rating is a judgement call which is why, in this instance, I removed the link temporarily and looked for other Mod opinions. Only a couple of them responded and they were generally of the opinion that it was borderline, but OK. So I happily restored the link.
I think that the spirit of the U rating of this forum is more important than the actual words of the rating. I still don't like that video and would prefer it if that, and others like it, had a word of warning alongside, but that's just my opinion. I also think that one of the reasons this forum works so well, and has so many real people meeting up and making friends, is that it has the spirit of a U rating (amongst other things) on its threads.

I don't think this thread should start another great censorship debate.

thats fair enough Messie. Its very difficult to gauge the reaction of everybody on here. A U rating technically makes no difference in this case considering the few people that didnt like it are not children and therefore an age rating wouldnt apply, it comes down to personal preference I guess. The other consideration is that any rating system needs to be interpreted in the eyes of the rating board, as with the film industry.

Without providing a lengthy summary of potential things that might offend each individual its fairly difficult to warn. What to me (and clearly others) might be trivial and unoffensive might well be offensive to somebody else.

I would hope that Flymo didn't intend to type trivial and inoffensive and for it to be interpreted as such. Then again, with the exposure we now have to death, destruction and suffering via the Internet, I'm not surprised that some don't see the humanity involved.

These videos are put out for public viewing and I have viewed many. I'm not sick, but there is a certain macabre magnetism to them. It's human nature to watch things that are out of our knowledge or beyond our experience.

I have to say having watched it now I don't think it's particularly gory, sure there a couple of scenes where people are clearly getting run over and your imagination can run riot, but as far as graphic detail is concerned kids (or adults) see far worse in your average slash movie. I know this is for real, and that these people really did get hurt, and that's tragic, but the educational value of this sort of thing shouldn't be underestimated. The reality, the fact that this really did happen, is the whole point of it, it makes you stop and appreciate just how vulnerable we really are. I'm sure every one of us are pretty confident they wouldn't ride their bike head first into an oncoming car, but those people standing on the corner when they were taken out by the lorry could have been you, me, or my family. Next time some unlicenced pi$$ed motorist tells me to go and catch a real criminal I'll be directing them straight to this link.....

I agree RH, good post, I didnt particularly like watching the people being run over, but it wasn't gory, makes you appreciate our driving standards actually aren't that bad compared to other countries.

With hindsight, If the op put a small warning on top of the link, I don't think anyone could complain.

People need to calm down a bit, there's worse on tv before the watershed.

Why does the traffic always slow down or stop when there has been an accident on the other side of the motorway, cos everybody wants a look, and can then think to them selves, thank god that's not me, it's just human nature.
As to the driving being really bad over there, China is a big place right, where these compiled from one city or lots of city's, from one day's vids, one week one year or more? I mean we do have accident's over here.

If this is what all the fuss is about please let me know what world we are in.

Some of the statements are a bit ott. There are no images of death and imaginations are running away with yourselves a little. There was a vid on here of the Jap GP rider which was much more shocking than any of the accidents on this vid.

If we were to be so anaesthetic its not going to be long before a vid of a burning building would be seen as offensive as there may have been someone in it that got burned.

See it for what it is. Not sick, just some brainless drivers and peds.

Berlin

Well if there are no images if death then I must have been mistaken when I saw the lorry first run over the guys head, then get his whole body with the rear wheels.

I look forward to "enjoying" the video of this happening to your sister, Mother, farther or brother, just after Blue pete had had to knock on your door and tell you that their head has been squashed and they need a DNA sample to identify the body. Closed casket funeral.

Oh, no, no harm done! No foul.

These are people, with families and deserve more respect than to have this posted for others to oggle at..

You're entitled to your view Berlin but I think there is a whole world of difference between "enjoy" and finding something interesting. I don't "enjoy" watching the news every evening and seeing yet more tragic events unfolding around the world, be they man made or natural, I do it through a desire to be informed about what is happening so that I may form balanced views and make rational decisions about things. Nobody on here is raving about how wonderfully entertaining they found this film, on the contrary most have commented about how shocking the events portrayed are and reflected on how lucky we may be by comparison. Personally should I be unfortunate enough to come to grief as a result of an avoidable set of circumstances, be it by my own hand or anothers, I'd want as many as possible to understand what happened so they may best avoid it themselves.

Electro
28-08-11, 08:02 AM
As MBK said, nobody forces you to watch. I can only guess that you are the only person who has ever witnesses anything that is close to what the vid shows Berlin. Nobody else on here has seen anything similar or worse!
What does my family have to do with the vid? I live my life and the way i do may indeed involve a closed coffin. And? You can stop preaching now and post about the vid and not every possible other in life.

Berlin
28-08-11, 04:09 PM
Sad, really sad. I suppose its a reflection on today's society.

This wasn't a video game! This is real people being killed and maimed. You don't have your head ran over by a lorry and survive.

The very fact that it is being compared to a video game is wrong.
