Wasn't it the scaffolding?

It was reported as scaffolding in some places and the canopy in others.

When you look at the photo's it's a full steel structure with roof cladding already fixed to it. Doubt a failing scaffold would have had enough effect to fetch down a permanent structure....especially as it would have been underneath / alongside it rather than on top.
