Why are crash bungs so expensive?

I'm just thinking the part that needs to be the strongest is the bolt itself? - i can get the strongest ones wholesale or spec at low prices. The nylon bung is just the same as everyone sells?

the bolt needs to bend and not snap. to high tensile a bolt and it will snap same goes for to soft a bolt.

the nylon need to be of a kind that wont ware to quick but not be to hard so it slides. for this reason they use derlin which is quite expensive compared to lesser plastics. but yes they are way over priced for what they are, just like everything else these days.

i'm going to get a few rods and make my own for the R&G brackets as R&G want £60+ for just the bungs and another £10 for the bolts..

Threaded galvanised rod would bend. used to use loads of it hanging stuff from factory ceilings in my sparky days.

I can see the two bolt versions all over the place, easy to see now that this is the cheap solution. It needs to be a rod solution at least. If the bung snaps on a one bolt version it'd be a nightmare to remove the bolt stub. At least with the rod you can pull it out from the other side?
