Right folks I am due home next week at long last. :D

My bike has been sat in my garage for the past 4 months and been on a trickle charger with my wife starting the bike and letting it run every other week for a wee while.

I know that my rear tyre needs replacing so i am going to get a new set.

I also want to get the bike serviced and as it has just gone over 15k (i think) was planning to put it in to a dealer to get it all done.

Question time

What gets done at around a 15k service?
is it worth getting a dealer to do it or is it just an oil and filter change?

I was just going to use Cupar as it is near but if any of you lot can recommend anywhere else to get all this done then i will look at your suggestions.

ta very muchly

I believe the book says 24000 km/14500 miles as the service interval nearest, and that's valve clearances, throttle bodies balanced, inspection of pairs system/ rear suspension linkage inspection and tightening of all exhaust bolts, above the normal service items.

Cheers Mark.

As rictus01 says valve clearances due done so i'd get her into a dealer as at that sorta mileage the service will include brakes being done etc and after sitting for months ,, every little helps

you are looking at:

£250 for a new set of tyres. get storms m8.

£350 for 15k service.

i would suggest that as i know the bike to do the service yourself. the bike runs sweet as a nut.

oil £25
oil filter £12
sump washer £3
air filter £34
plugs £10
tub/spray grease £5

check the valves if you want but i doubt they will be out.

IIR you changed the plugs last year and have done no miles.
carbs were balanced last year but you could check again.
fluid changed in the brakes and the brakes worked fine, you could strip and clean if you want.

save yourself £250 and do the service yourself. or give me the money and i'll do it :-)
