View Full Version : Vibration in 5th Gear

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is normal - or indicates an issue. Comments please?

Edit: (Any gear upwards of 3rd seems to do this) At 7500RPM the bike vibrates so much that it is uncomfortable (would quickly cause my bum to go numb!). If I go slower or faster it fades away.

The vibration comes from the pegs/seat more than the bars.

If you need any more info, let me know.

Cheers for your time,
Alex.

Carbs/throttle bodies been balanced recently?

Chain & sprockets in good condition?

Rear wheel bearings OK?

Engine speed rather than road speed is pointing to a bit of balancing required.

Thanks Rocket. My Haines manual arrives soon, I will check it for balancing notes. Forgot to mention it's a pointy - so no carbs to check.

sounds mental but are the alun bolts on your pegs done up tightly? that could explain the huge vibrations from these specific areas,

yes but you still need to balance the throttle bodies.

if its a twin spark K7> you will need an sds tool as well as the gauges.

Thanks Bibio. It's a K5 - does this mean I won't need an SDS tool (sorry, I don't know what one of those is).

no you wont need the SDS tool. just a set of vacuum gauges.
