Hi all, just got my SV650 a naked 2000 but seem to have problems getting from 1st to 2nd when cold. Also when standing still put in first and really starts to roll. Hopefully this is just the clutch that needs adjusting but, as I've no dea about the mechanical side I don't know where to start.

Any advice appriciated.

Cheers,
Sniff

I had / have got the same problem. Lubing & adjusting the chain & oil level cleared it up mostly for me but still happens a bit so I'm gonna do some winter dismantling (then probably have to buy a new bike next year :()

There was a great thread by Dizzyblonde with pics on how to adjust the clutch - I've got a copy tucked in my Haynes manual, but i'm buggered if I can find it on here...

As DJFridge says - check the oil. I've heard too much oil can cause this?

After an oil change, take off the front sprocket cover and clear all the garbage off whats behind there. Its amazing how much crap the chain builds up behind there, and it can contribute to gear changing issues.
When you do an oil change, fill it slap bang in the middle on the markers, give it a wee run and then check it again after its cooled down a little.
I find when its full to the upper level theres problems, and when its at its low level the same.......sensitive things, mechanical objects!
