I've broken a piece that secures the switchgear to the handlebar. Is it me being heavy-handed or do they just break stupidly easily? What parts do I need to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

There's a little pin on the housing that locates into a hole in the clipon. Is that what you've broken off? It's easy enough done.

Just remove the switch gear and put some duct tape round the bar. Refit your switchgear over the tape and tighten it all up. That should be enough to stop it rotating.

Bodge it 101;
If it should move and doesn't - WD40
If it does move and shouldn't - duct tape.

Love it.

Haha, they're the two golden rules Tom :D.

Cheers will bang some duct tape on then.

Are there any tricks to undoing the screws for the switch gear housing? The screws underneath seem awkward to get to even though it can now rotate. It's not a fairing off job is it? :(

I fixed one of those, (not an SV), by putting a self tapping screw into the remains of the lug, with the head run down a bit on a grinder the screw is a perfect fit in the recess in the handlebar.

I fixed my dads curvy in the same way (both sides in fact), but used a socket head machine screw and drilled and tapped the plastic switch housing.

Stubby screwdriver should do it.

This thread is certainly separating the fixers from the bodgers. :p
