I can agree with you here sv4me.
Looks totally epic. Love aggressive naked style bikes :D

Take some tools with you and remove that exhaust shield. I want to see pipework not plastic.

Apart from that, I like.

doubt it as my eagle eye reckons its a wet clutch.

its nice. but looks to mash up of other bikes to be unique.

Hmmmmmm, it could possibly feel more loved if it gave its front end a face lift!!!!

Noticed the gap left between what looks like twin radiators for nice front plug drowing.

Hes good ya know :) wet clutch so no more clanking at the traffic lights and everyone staring thinking your bikes broken. 185kg and 130ish bhp. Me likey! I just hope they don't make the seat height ridiculously high for short arses like me

Exhaust shield wouldn't be a problem, it'd be getting ditched along with the cans for a booming Termi system :smt045 now, wheres the nearest bank to rob....

I'm in two minds about that - I can't decide if it's really fugly, or really really fugly

The hate child of an ER6 and a Hornet.

But, credit where it's due - Ducati win again; this time for making the vilest motorsickle I've seen this week.

(in case you're wondering, I don't like it)

You like visually challenging bikes don't you!

If you hide the light, the rest looks muscular and fine. But that light?

Plus, where does the top box go?

Pete ;)

sv4me
16-09-11, 04:13 PM
You ride a fugly Tiger you cheeky barsteward! And the 750s not mine so it doesnt count!

I like the light, it goes with the streetfighter name after all :) but it does seem to be a bit of a marmite thing judging by forum discussions i've seen!

I've seen an 848 with a topbox fitted to the back seat, so don't worry i'll still be eligible

I nearly had an accident watching this

that bike sounds like its got a slipping clutch or its got traction control. either way it sounds ill. or is it just the knob who is riding it.

sv4me
16-09-11, 04:23 PM
Think the S model does come with traction control so it might be that kicking in, could have it on the wrong setting maybe.

2bh i've seen so many vids of bikes crashing on those bends, hes doing better than most just keeping it upright!

everyone staring thinking your bikes broken.

Until it is.

It's not a streetfighter FFS. Go crash an 848 if you want one of those.

I would have to see one up close but it looks tidy in the pics  Only thing i dont like is the fluid reservoirs, they dont look right or seem to match the style of the bike maybe a bit last minute but what do i know.

I don't know which I loathe most :-

(1) The fact that it's a Ducati

(2) The fact that it's just downright ugly

(3) The fact that they've called it 'Streetfighter' when it isn't !*

*unless of course each bike is taken out by a member of the factory staff, thrown down the road & put back together with bits they (or their friends) have lying around / other bits that they like the look of & can afford before selling it to a customer.

Pedantic - moi ? :smt019

As a former Ducati owner and a possible future one now, I must politely tell you to go forth and multiply ;)

:smt044 I love how some are getting their knickers in a twist about it being called a streetfighter. Whats your idea of one then, other than something thats been crashed?

A streetfighter is a sport bike that is customised by removing the fairing, and making other changes that result in an overall more aggressive look.Beyond simply removing fairings, specific changes that exemplify the streetfighter look are a pair of large, round headlights, tall, upright handlebars such as those on a motocross bike, and short, loud, lightweight mufflers

Sounds about right to me (bar the headlights)

yorkie_chris
16-09-11, 06:56 PM
Except that it isn't customised because it is built like that from factory :-P

I wouldn't say knickers in a twist, just the generic rant about the "factory streetfighter" class, they used to just be naked bikes. Streetfighters are GSXR11s that you fell off.

dizzyblonde
16-09-11, 06:56 PM
I don't think its that ugly, its just the front end is all squshed like any other new bike these days, why do they all have to have the melted headlight look.

Anyway, Ducati designers are well reknowned for designing ugly bikes(by you lots standards at least). They even nicked the idea of the rear brake lights off that horrid ugly pointy SV!!

:smt044 I love how some are getting their knickers in a twist about it being called a streetfighter. Whats your idea of one then, other than something thats been crashed?

Sounds about right to me (bar the headlights)

IMO no production bike can ever be called a streetfighter - the closest it could come would be to say that that one has the appearance of a streetfighter.

Whilst I'd partially agree with the Wiki quote (but since when has Wiki ever been the definitive answer to anything??) in that I think the term streefighter was first applied to sports bikes (primarily Gixxer 1100's ?) that had been down the road & who's owners either didn't have the funds to replace all the broken bits of plastic or found that they liked the naked look; however, common usage means that the term has come to reflect a bike that has been created (either from scratch or from a donor bike) utilising the various components from other bikes (engine, frame, forks, swing arm etc, etc) that the owner either already has access to or has the money available to buy.

I love streetfighters - my only regret is that being a complete mechanical moron, technical turnip & engineering eggplant the closest I'm ever likely to get is by having a "Chequebook Streetfighter" ie paying to have someone build one for me :smt089

In all seriousness though, regardless of the fact that I personally really do loathe Ducati & their bikes I would never say anything against someone's pride & joy in anything but good humoured banter - how can I? I own a BMW GS Adventure !! :D

If it floats your boat then get one - I hope you'll be very happy together

Yes it is!
If it was a factory supernaked and not a 'fighter I would consider one! Hence why the Z1000, 990's and Trumpets work so well, and the Brutale's are just barely hinged supersports bikes

Duc have beaten the Streetfighters (thats both of them as the big brother is getting the same updates) with the ugly stick used on Buells

The wet clutch is for the changes in the Euro Regs as noise has to be reduced. Bye bye motorcycle dry clutches

That pretty much sums me up too sadly. Wouldn't have the time or the know-how to build 1 myself, so its easier if I just buy 1 of these bad boys  as much as I like Triumphs, i've been angling for a big v-twin for a fair while I could get on with. The 1098 I had was awesome but far too much for a road bike, it would have ended in tears if I hadn't sold it. But what can I say, i'm a sucker for a Ducati in red

I shall refrain from making any GS tractor based jokes and leave it there :)

Gotta say between this, er, "offering" and a KTM I know which I'd go for.

Same feeling as always from ducati, you get the idea they let some poofter with a paintbrush design the bike and then made the mechanicals fit the bill, badly. Whereas with the katooom it looks like they built the bike and if you don't like it you can lump it, or it'll rip your face off.
How do the prices compare?

And drinks fuel quicker than you can feed it. KTM have used the same design house for about 15 years (Kiska design) hence the distinctive and now famous orange

KTM 990's are about the same price if you haggle (Superduke R's are £9,995).
You can buy a RC8 for the same price as a 848

The sv &the fisher have basically the same engine ;)

Suzuki might revise the sv soon.

they may refresh the look perhaps, add a few feature, but nothing to major, the SV is designed to fit their market range in a certain way, they aren't going to allow the SV to ever tread on the toes of the GSXR range, so it'll always be kept budget.

Cheers Mark.
