My mate turned up on his little project yesterday that he had been working on for 2 years on & off. It's the 1st time I'd seen the finished article & think he's done a brilliant job on it. He hates it, he can only ride about 15 miles on it before being in pain, but he loves it for the posing factor.

It started off as one of these.

And now looks like this. He has made loads of parts for it like the rear mudgaurd, headlamp brackets, indicator brackets etc.

Just needs some flames on the tank!

My mates husband in France bought one when he had a midlife crisis. Had the chunky front forks and flat bars..........with purple flames stitched on the seat, and painted on the tank(actually was a really good quality)from some bespoke place.

Man was that a tarts handbag, he loved it for all of six months!!

He was after the Russel Mitchell (Exile Cycles) look. He wanted to take all of the chrome & give it a brushed look, but, trust the Japs, some of the covers are made of plastic, so it's staying shiny now. I think it sets it off quite nicely.

I hate these people that are talented with a spray gun. It looks proper rusty.

It's got me thinking of building something now, but I would have to sell Custard to do it...... Nah, forget it, love me SV too much :)

Good old Hard tail chops, a good way to batter the piles back into place. To increase comfort, what about changing the seat slightly and fitting a pivot and spring system to it? Ok, it may not follow the smooth lines on that gorgeous chop, but it could increase the mileage for your mate.

Geo, those tanks are amazing, I love the sculpted one with the Ivy. However, the Grim reaper does look like he is holding a sex toy as opposed to a sword! It is entirely possible that I just have a very dirty mind... ;-)

He will be pleased to know at least one person thought it looked a bit like an Exile Cycle - I did before I read your comment above comment :)

I had to ride a VN1700 Classic Tourer the other day to try and find a noise the owner was moaning about (I didn't find anything). By the time I'd done about 6 miles I was all but ready to kick the feckin' thing into a ditch and walk back to the shop, it was probably the most uncomfortable and foul handling, underbraked pile of crap I have ever ridden and for 1700ccs it was completely gutless. Why - I mean really, why do grown men who ought to know better spend so much hard earnt money on such abominations?

Now that is one awesome looking bike. I'd like something like that as a second bike.
