I know, it's a shameless way by asking for votes, but i am short by about 100! If you have voted already then, thank you for voting!

Cheers

Sammy

Thank you to everyone who has clicked "like" on the photo so far! Please keep the votes coming! Also a huge thank you to everyone who has commented on the image... i was so lucky to have such a beautiful subject to photograph. There's nothing better than seeing them in their natural environment.

We were lucky to see 4 leopards, Metsi (pictured above), Hglangisa (female pr: clangisa), Xicavi (female pr: shicarvi) and Xinzele (male pr: shinzeli)

Hglangisa - we saw her only once on our trip, she was calling and sent marking. We only saw her at night so she is lit by the tracker's torch.

I didn't get any photos of Xikavi as she was in dense scrub by the side of a river. She never stood still long enough to get a shot and was trying to cross the river to get to a male.

This is the very handsome Xinzele. About 4 years old and fairly new to the area having just taken over a territory there.

Bumping.. Competition closes on October 21st.

Again thank you to everyone who has voted for my photo, commented on the photo and shared it on their wall.

Please keep voting if you haven't already, and please keep sharing the photo on your wall so your friends can vote too!!

The photo needs to be in the top 10 to be in contention, i think i am there now, but it would be great if not only was this photo in the top 10, but was number 1!!

I have just done a sneaky look and counted up and i am in 2nd place!! Again thank you to those who are voting and sharing.

I have only entered 1 photo.. i did have another 5 or 6 i wanted to enter but i love this one of Metsi as it was such a right place right time photo. We were following her for 2 hours as the sun was coming up and she walked passed the tree she is standing on in the photo. I said to the Ranger how lovely it would be for her to hop up there and she obliged, standing still long enough to fire off a few shots before hopping down and making her way off out of sight.

As i couldn't decide amongst the thousands or Leopard and Lion pictures i took, i settled on just entering Metsi and see what she can do :)

A signed copy of Eye of the Leopard and a chance to have your picture plaqued and framed by Frame Genie
It is also a way of getting my name out there and getting recognised as an animal photographer.

It is in association with National Geographic (http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/big-cats/cause-an-uproar/)

I want to update you all on the results...

I won!! :D

Thank you to all who took time to vote for my image of Metsi. My photo has been framed and is on display at "The Big Cat Fundraiser" in J'berg SA tonight.

Due to distance, I have given my 1st prize tickets to the Big Cat event, being held with Dereck & Beverly Joubert (the judges of this photo competition), to the 2nd place winner Gary Parker. He took 2nd place with a photo of Metsi's grandmother Makwela and cub:

3rd place was Sridhar Reddy Yeraguntla with this photo:

Along with National Geographic they have started the ‘Big Cats Initiative’ to create awareness for the plight of the Big Cats, in particular Lions, Leopards & Cheetah across Africa.
