As a title says I'm looking for a spannerman that could have a look at my 2000 sv650s. I've bought it on saturday and I want to make sure that engine sounds OK as I'm complete newbie to biking and under impression that it doesn't sound right. Any help deeply appreciated!!! cheers, Robert

You could always try our very own Spannerman right here on the boards.

http://www.stewarts-motorcycles.co.uk/

Based in Sunbury on Thames which is a nice ride out from Didcot.

Hi Robert, did you get it checked out - hope so.

I did exactly the same when I got it ;-) as it sounded so bumpy & ticky compared to the IL4 I learnt on.

Had it to two places (one for service & one for MOT) only a couple of hundred miles ago and both happy with it.
Was always 100% reliable with me.

Used a bit of oil, but I read on here that that's usual so just kept an eye on it.

Gets lots of looks doesn't it :-)

^^^^^^ He's right, Spannerman is Stewarts and he's currently helping me with my Bikes. Gets my thumbs up.

Hello there Gerry hope you are ok. My only concern was ticking noise from the engine (front cylinder) but after lots of reading on here again apparently it is normal and comes from cam chain tensioner. It will not do any harm to anything, its only annoying a little bit but I'll probable solve it with a K3 tensioner :) . I treated my toy a little bit today with a new oil and filter, chain cleaning and lubricating and than acf50 all over metal bits. I might have to adjust chain as well but will do that tomorrow. I'm really enjoying riding every day.

That's exactly why I had a question mark when I first bought it, but when I put "ticking" in search, it seems that every other one has a tick at sometime or other.
Took it to my bike man who looked at me like I was stupid and said "have you listneed to my Ducati" lol (he did have a point, it sounded like a bag of nails) :-)

Pleased you are enjoying it.

Cheers
Gerry
