So far in two days i've had 4 near crashes but one of them really pee'd me off.
Monday:
Coming home from work, doing 70 down a country lane i know and had done in the morning, start cornering and as i enter, notice a big old patch of gravel just ahead, try to avoid and end up clipping it, bikes slids a good few feet before re gripping and almost bucking me off while i cling on for dear life.
Then while already in a $*** that was close mood, i was on the motorway when a woman nearly turned into. Now i am thinking how can she not see or hear me so i decide to go a bit slower and look at her.
SHE WAS READING A F***ING BOOK ON HER STEERING WHEEL
Who does that, seriously, doing 85mph on the motorway reading a book.
Tuesday:
The normal white van man tries to kill me and rear wheel steps out while cornering.
What is trying to kill me this week?

Should've noted her reg and reported her, she will injure somebody, not if, when.
I have days when I think it's me attracting issues as I'll have 4 or 5 things like people pulling out, drifting over white lines down country lanes etc.
I wish I had my camera on all the time, I'd get a few people prosecuted I'm sure.

Afaik she would get a letter which might make her think about not doing it again if someone has reported her, worth a try.

Had a people carrier on the motorway move into my lane while i was along side missed me by an inch, but what annoyed me more was that it was full of young kids and the driver was reading a book on the steering wheel  Some people just have no idea.

Makes you wonder if the police riders see this sort of stuff regularly too.
Reading a book!! OMG I can understand people being tempted to use the phone or text but reading a book??? Shocking!

I live in Bradford and from what i can tell 9 out of 10 of the people i see on the road in my area are ignorant, self obsessed and thick. Put them behind the wheel of a car and you are asking for trouble. I have now come to the conclusion that its only a matter of time until one of these idiots crashes into me. The worrying fact is that Bradford is one of the highest areas for uninsured drivers. I now memories number plates that drive dangerously on my way to work and have a little peep on AskMid to see if the are insured. Guess what more often that not the one i remember come up as uninsured.
I spoke to the the police with my concerns and could quite easily point out a few uninsured drivers on my commute that i see daily with minimal effort required by them and myself but they were not interested.
I feel your frustration

If a vehicle is insured, taxed, declared off the road / with or without an MOT can be found out by ANPR.
I dont understand why they can't just set up camp and start nicking people.
Probably 'cause speeding tickets are easier to hand out and more lucrative.
Makes me wonder why I pay for all this paperwork.

The problem is though, the Police are easily visible so people behave when they are about. When they then drive unmarked cars, we get all upset because they catch us speeding and being naughty while having fun on our bikes, before complaining that they should be out catching the real criminals. They can't win!
Lets get some of the Org Coppers in on this one and see what they have to say.
Oh my, have I just come out on the side of the over worked copper? Some one get me a brandy, I don't feel well! ;-)

My enduring memory of working in Bradford is the unique local rule for give way lines... you want to turn right? Just pull right across the line and block the first lane, forcing the traffic coming from the right to stop... now you only have to worry about traffic coming from the left. Simples.
Oh, and your car has to have a JCT6000 sticker in the rear window.

LOL, I was wondering the same. You've gotta be careful though, if it's really that good you'll end up riding next to them reading through the window :p

I hate using these but... ROFL!!

You have to appreciate the skill though. At that speed on a motorway I have difficulties reading the instruments LOL.

I'm guessing it was the highway code.

Maybe the brakes had failed & it was the car manual?
