Bugga!

Got a nice letter from Humberside Police yesterday, well techinically the wife did it'll be getting returned with my details on it.

Yes I was in a hurry,
Yes I was speeding,
Yes Im aware thats illegal,
No I've not had a pi55 and moan about it,
No I dont feel they're wasting resources,
No I feel no resentment towards the police,
Yes I will comply with the requests within their letter.

Its a fair cop guv!

My previous convictions have all been delt with in the back of a volvo so I do however have 2 questions for those who may know;

1, Do I reply to the NIP and then find out what my prize is or does the fact that this NIP comes with no details of a prosecution mean Ive won a day trip to Humberside Court House?

2, I was travelling using the SatNav (never been to my destination before) on the SatNav I knowing hovered around the 85mph region. This put the indicated speed up towards 90mph and the NIP has come with 93mph.
Not that its beyond all possibility that I hit that speed but Im extremely sceptical, and it woud be really unfortunate that I'd hit it just where that officer was stood. What Im keen to know is, is there any difference in procecution terms between mid to high 80's and 93mph on a motorway?
If the pentalty is the same then I'll leave it as is, but if its going to be the difference between 3 or 6 points or £60 and £120 fine then I obviously want to KNOW that the conviction is accurate.

I wont contest the speed then if the prize is the same regardless.

WOohoo that spare £60 I had in my pocket was beginning to weigh me down anyway...

93mph on a pointy....that's a result.

I think 93mph is the unofficial limit they can give you a 3 pointer and £60 fine, over that it's a trip to court with a possible ban.

Fill in the Sec 712 notice and wait for an offer.

I'm afraid that each and every area has their own set of thresholds, so no-one on here can say with any certainty what the outcome will be.

Contesting can backfire and the judge gives you a greater penalty

96 is the ACPO guideline for a court appearance mate. It's just a guideline though, I've been to court below the guidelines in Scotland, but the sheriff was not best pleased that it hadn't been dealt with by fixed penalty, and sent me away with 3 points and 60 quid.

You must have ****ed the copper off if he sent you to court? What speed were you doing?

93 is what a copper had mentioned on one of the fly on the wall thingys which stuck in my memory.

Btw, Col, remember the first green lane we done in fillongley? Took a mate there today who's never been on a bike before and taught him to ride a bit on my DRZ :)

Sorry for derail.

It was a scamera partnership. I was doing 60 mph in this 40 limit,

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=edinburgh&hl=en&ll=55.971559,-3.329136&spn=0.001837,0.013078&hnear=Edinburgh,+City+of+Edinburgh,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=17&vpsrc=6&layer=c&cbll=55.971561,-3.329132&panoid=zyNLmYGvj6la_DB8gpWQxQ&cbp=12,131.14,,0,3.84

gives you an insight into why the sheriff was ****ed off to have to deal with the case (I actually think with the disdain he held for that particular speed limit, he must have got caught there too)

ACPO guidelines are here in case you ever need them

I'm not sure if the rules are the same these days but when stopped for allegedly travelling at 85mph (in the car) I asked to inspect the radar equipment used. I noticed that the calibration label on the 'gun' was 2 weeks out of date. I took the details of the label (asset number, due date, date of last cal) and when the officer realised I knew what I was doing, he said, "It's your lucky day, drive carefully sir" or something like that - never heard anymore - If youare ever stopped ALWAYS insist on inspecting the equipment. Ask for details of the equipment used and it's calibration interval and due date - you might just be lucky...

I just knew becoming a radar/rf engineer would come in handy one day...

Na cop with static gun, nip came in the post. I was speeding as we often do and I got caught.
Fair play IMO
