After all the non starting bikes that have been in the threads lately i wondered if there was a basic guide/check list on here of where to start looking if your curvy or pointy wouldn't start?
Just thought it would be useful to have info in one place, so anyone got anything to add?

Kill Switch, (You'll get nothing off the starter button just a dim headlight)
Clutch Cut out Switch, (You'll get nothing off the starter button just a dim headlight)
Side Stand Switch, (If in Neutral then the bike will start, but cuts out when knocked into gear)
Flat Battery (maybe a struggled starter turn, followed by nothing - all lights will be dim)
Loose Connection, (Intermitant starting fault, maybe cutting out whilst running).

If its a full on brain scratching break down the areas of concern is to be as widepants said.
Fuel, Spark, Compression.
* Fuel: Do you have fuel and is it getting to through,
* Spark: Check the electrics generally: Switches, Battery, Fuses, Plugs, Wires, Coil & Coil Pack
* Compression: Remove the plug from either cylinder and do a comp test as per the manual.
If that doesnt find the problem then throw some tools around smashing otherwise perfectly functional items and cost yourself a load more in repair costs... and repeat.
You should at least be able to identify a problem even if you cant fix it.

Geodude and I are collaborating on something to, hopefully, address this.
We'll be back soon.

Battery OK but Bike dead at ignition: Check Green Connector

Check Oil - i have a renegade air box which seems to spit oil out of the breather hoses almost as quick has I can fill it. I have twice had ignition with no turnover thinking it was sparks or battery before clocking the lack of oil.
Check battery/load - if it fires but doesn't crank over. you'd be surprised how much an alarm will drain a battery if left for even a few weeks.

Always make sure that the magic smoke is in the wires. An old bike of mine let all of the magic smoke out and when we looked under the fuel tank, it turned out that the fuse box was on fire! Bikes on fire tend not to start we quickly learned!

Magic smoke escapes are bad.
Battery conditions as a simple one!!
Failing that shouting and swearing saying: Start you f***ing b******ing piece useless junk§
§: Yes I have shouted this!!!
Check that no squirrels have entered the engine through the exhaust pipe and are playing seesaw on the pistons... Real pain to get them out.
