I'm in no way an Apple fanboy, but "visionary" doesn't seem too strong a word. Sad day.

Sobering. It doesn't matter how successful you are in life, or how much money you have, thee are some things you can't influence. A reminder to us all to enjoy whatever we have whenever we can, and be grateful to individuals such as this that they enabled us to do so.
RIP.

56 is too young but what an influence on the technological world.

Overrated & over priced equipment, but the man changed the face of phones & computing, so I take my hat off to him. R.I.P.

Everytime you see an iPod, iPhone or iPad (plus some if the other apple products he was involved with) and think 'Blimey - that is pretty incredible', it's all because of Steve. True innovator & showman on the wwdc events. Sad day

Some people don't like their products some do.....but one thing that is indesputable.......

His products and innovations have changed the world we live in.

Rest in peace Mr Jobs.

Didn't like him, thought the products were overated and very much sows ears wrapped in silk.

But

like Drew I agree they have influenced that sector

and I hope he rests easy, his fight is over.

Sad to see anybody pass away. He was clearly a visionary but I doubt he was solely responsible for the 'i' devices. There are some very clever people working out there that pulled these designs together.

The real vision was not in the device but in understanding how they will be used by people.

I'm the same as several here, I didn't much care for his products or the way he formed Apple into a media machine but there is no doubt that he has had a significant and positive effect on the industries in which he operated. Very sad that such a positive influence should be taken from the world so soon.

When he first started out he was more visionary, Apple was the first colour computer.
