cluffy snakes, well corns are about the easiest pet there is too look after, even easier than a cat, you only have to feed them at most once a week, fresh water at all times though.

And why would you want to cut the food up for it, snakes don't materialise knives and forks in the wild you know :-P

He is a fussy eater though :p
When I forst got him he didnt eat for about 5/6 months. Discovered you have to boil his food for him to eat it.
The things I went through trying to get him to eat :-?

Sorry, perhaps it comes from living where there are poisonous snakes, but I simply hate snakes as much or more than anything else on the planet.
There's an old saying here which I admitedly subscribe to, "The only good snake is a dead snake."
Should you need to be rid of this snake I'd be happy to blow it to bits with a shotgun, without any feeling of remorse.
Beautiful creature?
It's a fecking snake!

Having kept many pets of the type that other people cringe away from, I can assure you that even the slimiest of creatures have a cuddly side. In my time I have had rats, Long Clawed Toads, Scorpions and Tarantulas. Every one of them was loved and handled, each one was something that one friend or another found disgusting and vile.
These days I have cats and an Owl. Maybe that would be more to your liking.

My mate Steve loves her.

As for easy to keep dont they need to be a certain temperature and humidity etc? all that kinda stuff seems to be a lot of messing about, and as for it being cut up i suppose they dont have thumbs to utilise a knife and fork .

Depends what type of snake you were after. Corn snakes, temp yes hot end about 28-30 deg, heat mat on a stat with a thermometer to check, humidity no, normal humidity will suffice, snakes from jungles need a specific humidity, corns are from north america, usa, mexico etc.

I love cats and the owl is really cool.
Don't care much for rats but I really hate snakes.
The poisonous snakes we have here can be really aggresive.
Once I shot a copperhead moccasin (several times) that had chased the dogs off and was trying to get under the house, but came after me when it saw me. All that was left was the head and a bit of the body (about 3 1/2 to 4 inches total) and the bloddy thing was still trying to strike.
It was like the Terminator with the last wee bit still coming after me. LOL
Cats BTW, are great at killing snakes, especially water moccasins, the other venomous snake we have here locally.
If you have a barn or shed infested with snakes just start feeding the cats there.
Just out of interest, What would happen if the heater you were using blew a fuse or something, do you have a back up etc and how long would they live without the heat, say you went on holiday and the heater failed. Just that exotic animals tend to be a bit pricey so wouldnt want to wake up and find them dead.

They dont need to be pricey, find a local hobby breeder who does it for the love of it, dont use pet shops as they are often ill informed and waaay over priced.

The set-up I looked at recently with a faunarium costs about £50 initially (includes a thermostat and a couple of hides). (888reptiles.com)
Once they get bigger you'd have to look at getting something like you can see in the pictures, but that's probably not until after the first year / eighteen months.
Hatchlings are anything from £25 for a 'normal' to over £1000 for very rare morphs.

cluffy, corn snakes don't have very high temps, so if the mat did blow they would survive, i mean they are in a house in a wooden box with insulating material, and even in the wild it gets cold at nights, I think Gloria said it best, "I will survive" lol. Anyhow if you were to go away and leave them/it, you would have some one come and check on them every so often, give fresh water/ feed yeah?

Our owl is lovely, we took her for a walk down on the beach today, it usually takes us thirty minutes to do the walk. Today it took three hours because people kept stopping and asking to stroke her. She was exhausted when she got home and slept soundly all afternoon.

Ur a cuddly individual. Go smother urself in chocolate before u fondle another animal.

Begone until:
1.your beloved family pet dies from a poisonous snake bite
2. your child nearly dies from a poisonous snake bite
3. you've killed 57 poisonous snakes in your garden in a months time so it would be safe for your family to dare even walk outside of the house
4. you've been attacked and bitten in the wild and had to cut 2 1/4" deep X shaped incisions over the puncture wounds and suck the poison out with your mouth to keep yourself from dying before you could hike your way out for help
I don't go out and kill anything just to be doing so but know snakes aren't lovely docile creatures that live in glass boxes here.
And should you spy one on your property, there's no, lets go over and see exactly what type snake it is before we dare kill it. Venomous snakes are nearly always very aggressive and can be deadly.

Let me guess, the previous owner used to let them hibernate in the cellar!!
Sounds like there's quite a market for snake resistant fencing in your area.

At the time we lived on property boardering a stram.
Our neighbor across the way decided to dam the stream to make a pond, As the the water backed up flooding the stream the snakes were forced to flee and apparently all of them headed for our house and garden,
Was a horrid summer.
Don't live near a stream now and we have 8 cats which keep the snakes and the small creatures they feed on to a minimum. Now it's usually only 2 or 3 times a year the garden is invaded by an aggressive snake.

Cooper (skunk) is descented. It is now illegal to descent though.
She has another now, and she is young and fully loaded. She's never sprayed though.
Ferrets "skunk" aswell and that is just as bad :-?
They only do it when scared or in pain though so its a good indicator to something isn't quite right.
They are lovely animals. But need hell of a lot of care and space. You can't keep then caged and they can be slightly distructive :p
An African Pygmy hedgehog is something else I keep nagging the OH for but he doesn't quite see the point. A friend of mine breeds them. Lovely little things :)
