View Full Version : how long does it take DVLA to process stuff?

i have sent off my V5 form for a change in colour for one of my bikes. its been over a month now and still not got a new one.

should i be waiting this long?

DVLA say its typically 2 to 4 weeks (like all Govt. depts)

Chase it Monday if you know its over the 4 weeks. TBH 4 weeks for a government department is fast and 2 weeks is exceptional

Don't surprised if they claim never to have received it. When they do actually do it it's always been pretty quick for me.

This usually happens when they don't believe the date of birth and the photo match up ;) :mrgreen:

I beg to differ (I know, not like me)

My photo license had run out in August and I only noticed in September. I went online to find out what to do, found the form, filled it in and, major pleasant surprise, because I had renewed my passport within the last two years, they were able to access and use that photo. I didn't have to move away from the laptop, and the new license appeared within 8 days (and the passport renewal had been similarly quick and easy).

Excellent service from Government departments as far as I'm concerned!

my v5 turned up today. YAY!!!

just got to go and now apply for the tax disc. BOOO!!!!!
