Of course he is an idiot and deserves to be punished. But in Sri Lanka - and probably most of Asia - no one wears a helmet, they all ride in flip flops and they sit their kids on the petrol tank with mum and another kid or two and the family pig on the back. The traffic is far more busy than over here too. Every bus driver is a maniac. I'm not condoning what this idiot is doing - but in many countries he'd be just another rider taking his son to school.

Yep complete tit.
But wow! Thats brought back a memory of me being the one on the tank many many years ago. I was 4 and my cousin 12, another case of bad parenting.

Saw it in Corfu this year as well. There was a local woman riding on the rear of the seat, a 6/7 year old on the front of the seat and a toddler on the petrol tank! Madness.

True, but we're civilised and educated (well, most of us!).

does make me remember when i was little and use to sit on the tank to go down the road when my dad got back from work.
Good times tbh, probably only went 5mph and my road is super quiet.

Reminded me offroading on a trials bike with YC, no pillion seat so I was balanced in front. On the tank I think...first ride on a bike that and I was about 16
He is a complete tit. Although I get your point LPH, at the end of the day, he's not in Sri Lanka or any other country, he's in Britain and it's not exactly the accepted thing here. I doubt the idea that he was mimicking a different culture was running through the eejit's mind. I also doubt any intention of escorting the child to some sort of education facility was a factor either.
Yes he probably just wanted his kid to have some fun but how would he go about explaining severe spine injuries if not loss of a little life to his mother had the ride not gone to plan.

i understand your point entirely but i would add this
even if it were legal to do it here would you, tbh its a retorical question as i know you wouldnt even dream of it, people like him scare the sh1te out of me ,i vote we find a nice big island and start our own country , no speed limit proper imagration policies and a manditory iq test before admission

I was thinking the same as LPH until I read he was pulling wheelies and mounting the pavement. Sorry but he's a nob-end. He's also in UK so blatant disregard for law and acceptable behaviour.

Why count yourself out of your own country :-P? Surely you'd be like any other politician by having one rule for yourself and another for everyone else ;)
