I'm going to working in Plymouth for most of this month, so another hotel and hire car.
So what goes on down there? Can't take the bike, or the push bikes which is very annoying, but I will have laptop so I can watch Sky TV but there has to be some interesting to do right?

Cream teas in Dartmouth, yum
What sort of thing are you in to? There is a dry ski slope, a theater, a big VUE cinema, bowling, plenty of swimming pools, lots of shops in the city center, some excellent pubs serving real ale, loads of restaurants etc.
If you get yourself down to the historic Barbican area, there is a famous greasy spoon called "Captain Jaspers" that is a common place for bikers to hang out. They do a "yard of sausage" if you are hungry (Captain Jaspers, not sure about the bikers!).
The Barbican also has a very active night life, as does "Union Street" in the city center, though the latter is rather infamous for drunken Janners causing trouble.
Dartmoor is on the doorstep if you fancy getting out of the city (shame you don't have the bike, some fantastic roads around here).
Edit: The "Wheel of Plymouth" is now the Hoe (basicaly a smaller version of London Eye) that gives some cracking views of the city and out into Plymouth Sound (the bay that joins English Channel to the rivers Plym and Tamar)

The national Marine Aquarium, Dartmoor Zoo, Paignton Zoo up the road, Torquay Sea Life centre.
Oh, and don't forget the drink, drugs and prostitutes!

and prostitutes!
Some of whom have less teeth than a baby and more warts than an ancient toad! :smt047
I lived in Plymouth for several years and for me the best fun was running around Swilly or Devonport after dark and trying not to get murdered! :smt100
Cap'n Jaspers is a fun place with nice food and when you get your bag of chips, have a wander around the Barbican area, some of the historic information there will move you to tears, especially with the bravery of some of the sailors who left from there.
There is an old market hidden away in the back streets of the Barbican that has genuine Nazi uniforms and costumes from Dr Who or sale! :smt087
Plymouth Museum is generally uninteresting, if you are really bored, this is an easy way to waste an hour or two looking for the well hidden, good bits.
Dartmoor is Fantastically beautiful, well worth a visit are Dewerstone, Great Mis Tor and the water falls out by Postbridge. The walking around there is lovely and on top of Dewerstone you can see miles of coast from Devon and Cornwall and the Moors behind you.
If you quite like pub stuff, check out the clubs on North Hill, I used to drink in the skiving Scholar or my favourite pub, The Swallow.
We are located on the corner of Bretonside and North Street, approximately 100m from Bretonside bus station and only a short distance from Plymouth's Historic Barbican with its mixture of old and new shops and restaurants to places of historic importance.
Good luck, be careful in Plymouth. In the words of Obi Wan,
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!

I don't know the OP, but the Swallow (http://www.theswallow.co.uk/) may not be everyone's type of pub. If it is, then Zeroes night club just off Royal Parade may also be a good spot.

Like all bigger cities it has it's bad points but there are vastly worse places in the UK.

I never went to Zeros, being an old rocker, I spent a lot of time in C103 on Union Street. Much more fun. The only other pub I drank in was the Clarence, but sadly it closed before I left Plymouth.

Very true, it just seems that I lived in all of the bad bits! The only thing I miss is the proximity of Dartmoor. :smt036
There's an ice rink there.
Or you could pretend to be a student and go into the Uni bar and drink cheap lager.
Well there is a university...hit the Student Union(s)...on the lash, birds etc.

Just stay away from my Mrs! :smt062 ;)
