When applying vinyl "racing" stripes or similar is there anything specific to do to the paint before hand so it doesn't peel off when you remove it?

How long can they be left on?

Where's best to buy stripes? Eblag/Halfrauds or somewhere else to prevent paint peel?

Thanks from a wannabe boy racer.

Any other tasteful boy racer mod suggestions welcome

Petrol on a rag. Cleans all the crap off the paint. Let it evaporate and it leaves you with a clean grease free surface to apply ya vinyl stickers.
to remove just use a hairdryer and petrol on a rag! Great for disolving the glue. also if its a nice sunny day leave it in the sun before doing the above. Only down side of remove vinyl is the paint work can be different shades due to the sun fading the exposed paint. Nothing a good T cutting or machine polish won't right though.

Only other tips I can think of are:
Use masking tape to mark the location of the stripes, measure, measure and measure again.
Finally if you're not confident at getting it right first time, use a very small amount of water on the area you're putting them on, you can move it around a bit then, but it is only a bit, it won't let you correct a complete muck up.

Cheers for the above.

rub with whitespirit if your not happy rubbing petrol all over your paint work, use soapy water then you can float the stripes to where you want them without having to worry about how much you put on, then when your happy use a squeegy (sp) or stiff bit of card to push the soapy water out from underneath. i used to do vehicle wraps, pm Paul the 6th he does it for a living so knows all the tips
