I met mate Andy at Telford Services J4 M54 and we took the scenic route round Shrewsbury, on through Ellesmere, Overton-on-Dee, Ruabon, to the Pondy, where we bumped into just a few others - place was busy today. Back via Chirk, St Martins, and Ellesmere. Andy was on his new drooltastic Tiger 800.

And you?

Went out with the 'old man' meandered down the A30 to the hill top cafe, then spured off towards the A36 to Southampton. Turned off onto the A27 heading to the back of Romsey, hooked a left and headed up to the A3057. Unfortunately the road was closed and we took a left onto the B3084. Oh man what a road that turned out to be, fantastic twisty roads. Especially through the hamlet sections, i was grinning inside my helmet! Followed the road along to the end and back onto the A30 and headed home. Was only out for 4 hours and covered 130miles. That did include a fuel stop and breakfast though! I'll be heading back that way when i'm next out on 2 wheels.

S'funny how an unplanned route can turn up trumps ain't it. Had a similar experience yesterday myself, the road I was aiming for was closed due to repair so I hung a left and discovered a cracking backwoods route through a forest, hardly any traffic and wonderfully eerie when I stopped for a fag break.

Too right, some of the best days riding are taking random turns and following the road. Trying to plan a trip like this next year

I'm planning to ride to a location as a base camp, mid Wales is my aim. Then everyday go out a different way and explore new roads. The only way i could plan an unplanned route would be if i had alzheimers :driving:

I came back yesterday from a week of biking fun in Scotland. Not even sideways rain could spoil it.

Desperate for a ride today so headed out to Petworth, Arundel, Bury across the South Downs and home on the local twisties for about an hour and half.

Weather perfect, traffic was light, bike brilliant and me - I rode like a right div! I was bloody rubbish.

:smt045 sounds a lot like my day (except the fag part)

I headed towards Clitheroe via Longridge this morning, theres some cracking left right flicks along the way. Then headed to Trough of Bowland taking this (http://g.co/maps/ekavd)route for the 1st time, bit more tight and technical than Waddington to Newton like I normally do. Lots of fun. The road narrows at B near the stream and theres a good 50ft drop just to your left hand side!

Left Glasson Dock and started to head back towards Preston. I can't stand the slog back down the A6 from there so I turned off early and went exploring. Ended up on narrow, leafy roads that lead to Beacon Fell (http://g.co/maps/dqgkp). Parked up for a bit to enjoy the scenery. Then made my way back through a maze of some pretty decent back roads. Had the sat nav mounted to the bars but didnt switch it on, was just enjoying getting lost in the hazy sunshine :D

Went to work on the Versys, which is about 8 miles. Came home on my company bike - which is an FJR1300 we took in px against a Z1000SX - that I'll mainly be using from now on for the 60 mile round trip to work and back*. The 8 miles home somehow turned into a 40 mile trip... no idea how that happened :-)

Today I went to see my mum in hospital about 15 miles away after popping into work to pick some stuff up for tomorrow.

*New job within the company as general manager of the Cambridge branch, which is 30 miles from home.

Yesterday..
Peg took Suzy out for a 30 mile run in the morning, then I went out in the afternoon for about the same.

He thought she was frickin awesome....in a tiny bike kinda way.

I was terribly uncomfortable, she doesn't fit me anymore, but I enjoyed bimbling in my own space in the sun.

Awww, hope that she is OK.

We too went to hospital today, to see our friend who had the crash a couple of weeks ago. He has been moved again and is now in a regular ward, has hardly any tubes coming out of him and he is bored out of his head, so we took him a DVD player and a pile of DVD's to watch. No Ghostrider though, don't him getting any more daft ideas! :smt087

Today's big adventure though was taking the wife pillion on the bike, a scary prospect because she trained me. It was such a nice feeling having her arms around me as we blasted along on my hire bike. On the way back we stopped for a cuppa and he gave me some feedback on my riding which was really useful. Handy having a wifey who is a senior instructor, saves shed loads on training! The main reason for me taking the wife on my bike though was due to the seals on her front brake callipers starting to weep and drip brake fluid earlier this week. When we had a look at them today, she looked a bit sad and said it needs new seals and pads. :smt056

Funny how you can live somewhere for years and be totally unaware of a road like that!

Run out with the Shropshire Rat's, tagged on to them at Shrewsbury by pass, Westbury to Churchstoke, (Harry Tuffins for brekkie), Bishops Castle, Clun, Knighton to Presteigne, tour of the Judges Lodgings, (well worth the admission fee). Lunch in a nice pub, then to Mortimers Cross to Leintwardine, down through the very scenic Mortimer Forest to Ludlow and down the A49 home. Couldn't have been better. :D

Did you all stop home?

Mind, there are 20 threads on the front page of IB, and yes I know it's not BT&I, but only 4 of them are anything to do with bikes.

Now worries, i do a lot of my riding round that way. I usually head down to Salisbury for breakfast then meander West/South from there. Some fantastic roads around that way. The 338 or 354 from Salisbury to Bournemouth are fantastic roads too. Go earlyish morning to miss the traffic. good fast sweep A roads

Nowhere, I still have 15 stitches in one finger. :(
However I will be riding next weekend despite the forecast for cold weather to arrive.
I plan to cut the offending finger out of an old pair of gloves.
May look funny with my pinky sticking out but I'll be all proper if I stop for tea! ;)
