View Full Version : Thinking of selling the SV - how much is it worth?

I'm considering selling it - but I'll probably change my mind again tomorrow.

SV650S K8 Black
8700 miles
Storm Ultra tyres less than 1,000 miles old
Full service history

I've had the bike from new and it's been kept in the garage. It did get wet once when I got caught out in a shower on the way to AR, but apart from that it's a sunny days toy. Gets slathered in ACF50 every October for my occasional winter rides. The only damage is a tiny crack in the front indicator casing where my garage door blew into it. But I have the part to replace it.

I have changed and added a few bits but still have the original screen, rear seat and the original red rider seat, plus spare front indicators.

Crash bungs
Heated grips (I'm a wimp OK)
Black Fabbri double bubble screen
Beowulf Warrior black can
Scott oiler fitted at the dealer before I took delivery
Fender extender
Custom low cut out seat designed for a 'lady's parts' with little gel pad for those with shorter legs
Rear cowl
Mahoosive Givi top box which just unclips but holds 2 full face helmets
And one of those socket things under the seat you can plug your Autocom into.

Also have a tail tidy and hugger but they are still in the box in the garage as I haven't quite got around to fitting them yet :D

So orgers - what do you reckon - would someone like to give me an idea of what it's worth?

About a grand I reckon, it just so happens I have a spare grand I can buy it with :)

About £2,000 to £2,500

Atm if your wanting a change you'll get a better deal P/X

I also am thinking of a change, might be going for a triumph street triple or superduke 990.

Out of interest, why better deal p/x?

I got offered 1800 notes p/x for a 2000 curvy the other week, which is high

Dealers seem to be want used over new stocks as the margins are better

Just found this one on Ebay for £3699!

Lower miles than mine but surely that hideous screen and rim tape must have devalued the bike - why do you need an immobiliser fitted - no thief with any taste will want to be seen out on it.

its worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

last november i got a K7 with seat cowl and lowers (which were an added extra at the time it was new) with 1087 miles and 1 lady owner for £2900. people dont see extras as added value when looking at bikes.

now that i have incresed the millage 7800 and added what i consider to be huge improvements (gsxr front end, gilles bars, Nitron, warrior, screen, scotty, storms and a few other bits and pieces) i would still only be looking at selling for a maximum of £3000 if i were to sell it.

That's why I'm thinking if I were to sell it I'd be better off put back to standard with the exception of the can and then selling any other bits off separately.

Always put back to standard as much as possible, especially on trade in, you won't get a penny more.

If you sell private, offer the goodies as an extra.

Btw, the above valuation of £2-2.5k for a bike of the age of yours is way too low, you shouldnt accept less than £2.8k IMO, I got £3100 for mine private, offered £2.9k on trade in, which I declined.

3899 for an SK6 is a bit much (one at the bottom of the page in the link)! With 500 miles in 4 years - ridden to the dealer for each service only :smt022 its just a crime to bikes.

That is a sin
TBH mine did 2980 miles in 9 years until I got it

If I was looking for a SV I would pay £2500, or £2700 with the mods.

Yeah but you pay over the odds for the bike you px it for.

It's the wrong time to be selling your bike. Unless you need the money to fund a new bike, I think you'd be better off waiting until the spring when the prices pick up (or you change your mind.)

If you do sell it, return it to standard and advertise all the shiny bits on here. Put any that nobody wants on Fleabay.

Agree with this, although it's only 1/10 times you get someone who values the mods as much as you. If they're innexpensive leave them on but I'd probably strip other bits of if you can be bothered. People tend to just shop by this model, + this year + this approx. mileage, in good nick = I'll pay this much.
