Having spent a lot of my childhood watching my Dad paint pictures for lots of folk, I'm quite critical of other artists work.

Man I've seen some crap

But not yours MM, its excellent stuff. I look in the window of the local art galley come framing shop and the prices they charge for some of the dross they sell is unbelievable.

In fact they've got a large Marylin Munroe canvas in the window, I bet its going for £200 - £300.

Sadly my Dad passed away in August and I'd been tidying his studio and loft and we found some pictures we'd never seen. One pastel one was done in 1974, which will be framed.

One thing my mum said it was a pity that he didn't keep a record of who he did the pictures for, so think about that.

He never made much money from it, as it would have spoilt his enjoyment of his hobby, but I remember him burning the midnight oil to finish off one for someones birthday or Christmas.

Keep up the good work

Thanks Mavicap :)

My dad also paints and draws and I will keep his art.

I don't charge much for my paintings either. For example the Marilyn Monroe one (3'x3') and the Madonna one (3'x2') I've sold for £60 each.

I enjoy doing them when I get time so that's all I'm bothered about :)

Unfortunately I didn't inherit his talent for painting, although he was self taught.

Same for you, or naturally gifted?

My dad has taught me all I know and is still teaching me now.
Although I can't draw for toffee :p

Ah well, pretty sure I've got an O level in Technical Drawing :p

Not that its been of any use what so ever.

My Dad could paint, draw & do stuff in pastels, which IMO was his best medium.

At least you're enjoying it, that the main thing

Very nice indeed. Would it be too rude to ask for a quote on how much one might cost?
