Sure does save a lot of money, and one of my favourite easy DIY for a bike is the number plate hanger...

Nice neat job, what did you do about the number plate light?

Didn't bother, the brake light is bright enough and I've never been pulled up about it.

you dont have to have a number plate light for the m.o.t but by law you do
this was last years project:

and its still not finished :smt105
how did you put pointy tail lights on a curvy? is it a straight swap?
not that easy and I wouldnt bother again to be honest, had to make up light mount brackets, undertray and tail tidy.
It needs infills either side of the tail light, and they need to be filled in as when it rains lots of spray ends up under the seat, especially as I no longer have the snow plough.
Im hoping to fit a complete pointy seat unit and subframe in the near future as I think it would look neater. It was simply a what if idea that I got carried away with.
Cost me about £25 all in I think.
I wanted to fit some neat aftermarket indicators to my naked pointy but the hole left by the oem ones is a large oval shape. OK, I could have bought some indicator spacers but they look too much like an afterthought for me so.........
Decided to scrounge some carbon sheet from a friend who works with fast cars..:-) (cheers Andy) and made these babies .......

Think you'll find you do need to have one for MOT

Think you find you dont
edit: sorry should explain, if you have removed the wiring etc and there are no traces of it being there it cannot be tested and cannot be failed
your right Holdup, if its there it must work, but its not actually an mot requirement to have one in the first place.Although the police would possibly pull you for not having one as it comes under construction and use regs or something like that.
I spent ages researching as I wasnt sure myself, hence why I fitted the small LED plate light.
FG1, that is pure modifying porn :grin: very smart looking brackets you have there.

Not getting into a heated discussion but i've been testing bikes for over 10 Years now and you DO need them for an MOT after 1985 simple!
Only way you don't need them by law is if you have a daytime running bike and that's the only time you don't require them ,,, if it passes an MOT without them then the MOT test station is not doing MOT's properly
Just had a look at the tests for cars and bikes and a number plate light is not mentioned for the bike test. It is for a car
this is where i looked http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/publications/manualsandguides/vehicletestingmanualsandguides.htm
Let me find the link I used, posted it up when I asked on here ages ago...
I used this as a guide:
http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/Motorcycle%20MOT%20Inspection%20Checklist%20(VT%20 40M).pdf
and asked a traffic cop friend of mine who explained it all, comes under this, the construction and use regs, so yes it is required to have it, but its not an mot testing item according to the above. Odd situation really, you would think if it was required under construction and use, then make it an mot test item.

still, I fitted one just to be on the safe side ( even though its stuck on the very top of the number plate)

Wow, all this because I left my Plate light off... And the point I was getting at is we don't have MOTs in Jersey, if you get pulled up on something they tell you to go down to DVS a week later to get the bike checked over in which time you can sort any problems and they don't care anymore. We have a terrible system over here where you can get away with these sort of things.
ANYWAY:grin:
Anybody made Something like a new Clock surround for the Curvy so they're more centered?
BTW y aint u added me on FB ?
Can you resend :-dd i popped on earlier and deleted a couple, including yours by mistake wheres the embarased smilie when you need it!?
