My 10, almost 11 year old son is wanting a gaming chair for his birthday. I have been looking around and X-Rocker seems reasonable, looking at the Pilot.
He has also shown a bit of interest in a gaming bean bag aswell.
Has anybody got any recommendations, pro's and con's or user reviews that might prove helpful to me.

Just get the ****er a bean bag and a set of good speakers.

Kind of solves the issue of a gaming chair becoming obsolete when he no longer wants it.

Bit harsh bink ! Don't u remember being 10 ... It's more the kudos than functionality and as dads paying then longevity ain't an issue

Cheers Binky ... lol.
Admittedly a bean bag would seem the logical way to go but my son is also autistic and never goes down the "I want, I want" route. We have to quiz him when it comes to Christmas and birthdays and more often than not, what he ends up asking for is genuinly really appreciated. For this reason alone we don't mind paying for things which, at a first glance, seem overpriced for what they are.
As an example, all he wants for Christmas is a Mario game and a Simms pets game. How many of the parents out there can say that their kids Christmas list is that short, .... lol
So, back to the original post, any recommendations ?????

Don't worry Tony, it will be a chair suitable to take an adults weight. I can see me sitting in it more than him in fairness.

I'd suggest a beanbag... not just because it's useful for stuff outside of games, but he's asking for Mario (Galaxy 2?) and The Sims Pets, while gaming chairs tend to be for racing or flight sims so you can mount your wheel/stick securely.

I had a beanbag when I was a kid and it was great, used it all the way from when I got it (about 9) until I was 18.

Aha, how over the top sexy can they try and make a bean bag look. Try hard.

It does make me want to watch some porn though. I want to know where that other hand is going...

Binky, she could be playing with her "Nunchuk" :D

Metal Angel, he also has driving games already. And I very much doubt that I would pay that price for a beanbag.

True, but there's not many proper driving games on Wii, so there's not many wheels+pedals for it either (they all use those handheld wheels that make your arms ache) so a gaming chair might be a bit redundant.

Yes, the beanbags are expensive, but you said stuff he asks for he really wants, and as I said I used mine for ten years (though mine was a tenth of the cost)
