Hey Guys,
Received a new screen this morning for my pointy and have 1 question before I try fit it:
Will the screen nuts on the inside of the fairing remain in place when I unscrew the screw or do I need to take part of the fairing off to access those nuts?

Thanks.

Remove screws, pull out rubber grommets (inserts), change screen, refit grommets and screws.
Loosing fairing can help if grommets very distorted as can re-fitting new grommets

Ahhh. Ok cool. I had visions of me doing this (in the dark) and having nuts falling out when I take the screws out.
Thanks for the help :)

I ended up buying a screen fitting kit from York Suzuki when I did mine - the old rubbers were all crap & useless, new ones were harder stainless steel fasteners so didn't round off like the standard Suzuki cheesium ones.

Just a thought for if you get stuck..

So you don't have to cough up for some more rubber gromits......boil the kettle and soak them in hot water for a wee while. See them reshape before your eyes, and be completely reusable!!

Thanks for all the ideas. Will try the kettle out for the grommets. I had thought the current screws looked quite soft.

Dunno if curvies are same...not seen them in many a year, but are the screw threads not internal to the rubber gromits and brass(or goldish at least)?

Either way, wack them in a nice bowl of steaming water and they lose the bulge!!

Same I think, I got a new set of black Pro-Bolt screws and new grommets (with brass threat inserts) off Ebay for £4.99 I think.
Boiled up the old ones and they were a lot better but not as good as the new ones but would have done. Straight ones are a breeze to fit!

Are the Pro-Bolt packs bike specific or more generic to fit any faired bike?

I have a pointy K3 and bought some pro-bolt screws for the screen from ebay, they are hard as hell to put in but like the other guys said, put them in boiling water and they just slip in. Am getting a new MRA screen for x-mas :) so will have to do it again soon, ooh the joy :)

I know, hence why I enquired if they had the same gromits;)

So most of the Pro Bolt kits I'm seeing only have 4 bolts, I'm almost sure there are 6 on my bike. Are the top 2 not for the screen?

It would be quicker if you had a look, but 4 bolts/grommets, 2 self tappers

This is exactly right. I thought the self tapping ones were bolts.

Fitted the screen about 20 minutes ago and well chuffed with it. AWESOME advice about the hot water and fairy liquid. The grommets went in with no hassle at all. Thanks everyone :)
