I recently bought some Givi arms and baseplate off of here to fit to my (recently bought) K2. They arrived safely and were in good nick. So far so good. £50 inc p&p. Not bad I thought.
So I put one sunny Saturday morning aside to fit said rack, stripped off the plastic and bugger me if the mounting brackets under the saddle haven't been sawn off! I presume this was to fit the plastics which I am now assuming are some sort of customised number. So, no possibility of fitting it without drilling holes in the frame under the saddle and cutting away some of the plastic. No chance. My only option now is to buy a sports rack that replaces the grab rail and try to fit the Givi plate to that.
Has anyone else had this problem?

ps will try to take a photo

Have a look at the PDF on the Givi page to see if it matches your mounting arms

OK. I have a coupla pics here. See what you think. I can only think that someone has changed the plastics and had to saw off the rack mounting points to get them on.

Looking at the pdf from maviczap it looks like you should have a couple of bits that bolt into the mount for the grab rail and then provide a fixing point for the rear of the givi arms, if im looking at it right? Its just your luggage rails that have been removed.

No - I don't think so. The grab rail mounting points are under the rear seat. If you look at the PDF there are bolt points on the frame. These appear to be missing off of my bike.

Found this so hope it helps, looks like the rear bits go into the end of the box section at the back of the subframe http://www.everydayriding.org/2010/06/givi-plx-rack-install-on-2001-sv650.html makes a bit more sense to me now ;)
edit: its a different version of the rack but the rear mount parts are/look the same.

Bleedy hell, you'd need to be an Astronaut to be able to understand how to fit a Givi rack to a curvy, which is why I've never done it :D
Good find Geo

Geo - you are right! It's those little buggers that slot in the end of the tubing that I ain't got. And Mavi - you are right too. Someone's sawn off my love handles! Ouch!
It all makes sense now. Maybe I haven't wasted £50 after all!
I am SO pleased I posted this. I'll get back to it tomorrow and see if I can source those little square plastic thingies.
Thanks guys! I'd buy you both a pint but one of you is in Durham and one in Andorra! Anyway, it's the thought that counts.
