Hi as the title says, I recently purchased an SV650 which was restricted to 33bhp with the throttle cutter and washers on the inlets.
The bikes acceleration does not feel constant, when i give full throttle it feels as do there is a pause.. and it carrys on accelerating again. I mean it is meant to restrict it but is it ment to be in this way?

Would an ECU restriction give an overall better restriction? Constant Acceleration? More Acceleration...?

I recently rode a K9 that was throttle restricted while my bike was away and to be honest, it felt fine around town, but was a pain on the motorway due to having to use the gear box more. My K3 is ECU restricted and this gives me full throttle action and it feels far smoother in use, but has a lower top speed. If you have a pointy, give consideration to an ECU swap, but bare in mind the cost, after all, restrictions are only in place for a couple of years.

Yeah you have to keep shifting to get it in the right power range :smt021
Do you think the mechanical restrictor would give u a faster 0-60 if you kept shifting than an ecu? Yeah i am looking for an ecu one but they are just soo rare and soo expensive!

Not that rare, and not that expensive - they come up on here quite regularly and when you are finished with it you can generally sell it for what you paid for it.

The big question is why, when such a new rider (on restriction, and at a guess you are 18 from your forum name) are you concerned about 0-60 ?

To be honest, the final top speed of the K9 was higher than my restricted K3, however I would put this down to the age of my bike and that the K9 had only 600 miles on the clock. Technically they were both 33BHP, mine feels nicer having full throttle movement so is easier to modulate.

Other than that, they felt so similar in terms of power, it was only the throttle stop that made the difference.

Ill keep looking, and yeah thats the good thing about ecu restrictions plus they are fairly easy to fit.

I ride on dual carriageway's most of the time so i wanted to know which restriction type would get me quickly to the speeds i need.

Thanks for the replys i might just stick to the mechanical for now unless i find a cheap ecu restrictor
