Well i finally took my clutch apart to find this:

The source of my problems. (When sat in traffic in 1st gear with clutch fully in the bike tries to walk forwards. When this happens neutral is impossible to find and change from 1st- 2nd is difficult.) SaintNick posted a thread about this a few weeks ago, and i know it can be cleaned up.

But! I had a clutch in my garage like this one:

I believe mine is a K10 and looks very new and unworn. I would like to know if i can fit it to my bike? I mean i have put it in and it fits, but it doesnt seem to work. I have the bike in 1st gear, pull in the clutch lever, some plates dis engage, but the wheel won't turn.

I think i have given enough info, i hope you can help.

Andres

When the clutch is lifted the plates don't physically separate, thus it can take quite a bit of welly to make the wheel turn against the clutch.
I've not fitted such a late clutch to an early bike, and I know that the baskets are different but but the hubs are the same, so if it goes on OK I'm sure it will work. When adjusted properly, how far does the pressure plate move off from the clutch pack when the lever is pulled?

The bike had clutch problems when i bought it.

Unfortunately SS i have gone home for Christmas so i will measure and tell you when i am back. Ill just bump the thread. And i just tried to turn the rear wheel with the bike on the stand so maybe i will try putting it on the floor and rocking it back and forwards a bit.

For now im just using my dads vice to help me clean up the notches on the old clutch so if the new one doesn't work i can refit the repaired one.

Will the clutch plates be the same between the two clutches? They look identical.

Thanks!
