View Full Version : Tail Tidy & New Indys Fitted with Probs!
Well I got round to sorting my bike out after being sold an incorrect under tray/battery tray as my original was modified for an aftermarket under tray.
Still awaiting a new number plate but thought I would get on with what I could do.
I started by putting everything back on the undertray including the battery, fuses, ecu etc... and fitted the brackets on for the R&G Tail Tidy

Then fitted the rear tail section back on, already looking loads better, shame you have to ruin it by putting a number plate on really. You can just see the brackets through the gaps to be able to put the other section of the R&G tidy on.

Next up the indicators I got from Powerbronze at the bike show at the NEC after seeing them on the stand, they were bright and looked well made. Fitted them on the tail tidy and fitted the tail tidy to the bike as instructed, this is where everything started going wrong :(

As you can see 3 bolts are in, but one is not lining up as it should be :( from the pic below, you can see it coming from the rubber slightly

Then I connected the indicators with the in built resisters to some adaptors I brought from eBay to connect to the existing wiring but didn't get what I had planned :(

Any suggestions?

Get one of these, as obviously the supplied resistors aren't working

Repaces the OEM relay, just change them

R&G must have updated their bracket design. Mine didn't look like that and was just in one piece. Sorry can't help with that

So you didn't have the 2 pieces that connect to the rear frame?

Have you used one of these yourself?
Is it just a simple swap over and more importantly does it work :D

No not me personally. Yes just unplug the standard one and plug in the new one
Ask Syy, he has fitted one

Well a bit of an update.
I was having a ponder and I went back to check my theory, I had put the right indicator into the connector for the number plate light, as this was not connected before so I didn't know what was what.
So I went to try it and got that sorted, but the resistors that are built in are clearly not doing what I was told they would, and change the flash rate as they are flashing too quickly.

Fitted one to mine last week and it worked a treat, my led indicators were flashing 10 times faster than yours in the video

i had such issues fitting my r&g tail tidy and it still doesnt look 100% to me but loosen everything off and start with the off bolt just a few threads in then the rest....also prepair for lots of swearing as you have to take the fairings on and off 10 times.
UPDATE
Well I decided to go and have a play around with the brackets that go onto the R&G Tail Tidy, and I found where the problem was coming from.
For those that are not familiar or looking to purchase, on the brackets with the tail tidy there are two holes that go onto the existing fixing points, then fixings for the tail tidy section itself, they basically move the mountings for the R&G part over to the gap in the undertray and fairing.
The part that protrudes from the top was catching on the lip of the bracket on the bike rear frame itself, and was pushing the brackets over, hence making it out of line when coming to fit the R&G tail tidy.
As you can see on the photos below, these are the bits I am referring to above, I have basically had to file down part of the bracket so that it doesn't catch on the part of the R&G bracket so that it all lines up as it should.

Once I had put the brackets back on and in place, I decided to check that the other section of the Tail Tidy fitted correctly before putting the rear fairings back on, and finally it did :D

As I ran out of time before I had to head off to the footy, I had to leave it like this for now but at least I know its just a case of putting it back on now.
Just need my number plate to come now and sort out the flash rate on the indicators, then onto the fronts.
Oh yeah just to add, I also got one of these off ebay

Quality is excellent for the price and fitment is spot on, just adds a bit of bling rather than having a crappy black plastic thing on
