Bike storage

Have any of you guys used this kind of storage for you bikes. I worry about it being metal and condensation and how much it will protect the bike.

Ideally I'd love a brick built garage but the space I have won't allow it. I've got about 7ft by 10ft in the back garden.

Can anyone please advise?

Anything better than leaving your bike outside, even in my garage the cold metal parts of my bike were dripping with condensation yesterday.

You can get those bike covers that allow the bike to breath, letting out the moisture and stopping them rusting, so that would improve this shed.

Or you could insulate the inside to stop condensation forming

Better than nothing, but condensation will form, especially in Kilsyth! My garage in Harthill (the rainiest wettest place in the world!) was concrete prefabricated sectional. The wooden shed was bone dry, but the garage suffered condensation.

Will it be right next to the house? A small dehumidifier would keep damp at bay if you can run power to it.

I wouldn't recommend a metal shed, too much condensation - definitely go for timber

That is one expensive bike cover.Id get a plastic rain cover,use acf during the winter,and put the money saved towards fuel and wild women.

At the moment the bike lives with my olds about 10 minutes walk away, in a lovely brick built garage. But there are mumblings of its time to find your own space son, and I'm wanting the bike closer to home.

With the thoughts of metal sheds not being good I found the shed below which I kinda prefer looks wise too, but who would insurance affected?

At nearly £550 (when you add in the extras) for a shed plus the building of the concrete standing area, its not going to be cheap.

I've got mine in a 6 x 8 timber shed (bought slight seconds from local shed supplier £200) on 3 x 2 concrete slabs (blagged from someone having a new drive).
Loads of room to store other stuff but tbf, if I'd got the money I would have bought bigger. I often want a dry place to tinker - instead make do with gazebo if ness.

If you go timber think about getting the studs that only unscrew from the inside and perhaps a second door lock/latch.

If you're gonna go timber, build your own as even decent quality sheds are crap.
Timber studwork with cladding on the outside is a basic design but you can beef it up for longevity.

I like metal sheds tbh but I understand about the condensation.

My Bike is now stored in a 10'x8' metal shed from B&Q. It has to fit my SV, 5 cyles, my tools and garden stuff. It is a great size and I can work in there on the SV by moving a couple of cycles out the way. Get a larger shed if you can, one with a double door will help.

I was worried about condensation and that appeared to be the case a first, but I have to go in to the shed most mornings and it seems ok. I put a towel over my SV as i have to lean a cycle against it overnight, although I also have a proper cover if i need to as well.
