I know these introduction threads make you look like a spoon, but I'm going for it anyway. :) I'm Simon, from the Basingstoke area. I have a candy blue K1 curvy 650S. Have had it for about 3 years. Should've joined this forum ages ago, but I've got all the answers I've wanted from just reading, and also from good old Mr Haynes. I think one of my mates is on this forum too. No idea what his username is though, so my first mission is to track him down and humiliate him.

Plans for my SV are to try it with a lower fairing, then maybe upgrade the can and perhaps a rear hugger. Are there any other mods people would recommend?

I'm also looking to make some more mates near and far for some ride outs.

Ok, spoon message done. Cheers! :)

Welcome spoon.

Dont worry we've all been there, and by your humor I recon you'll fit right in.

Thanks for the welcome buddy. I like your sig btw. Crashing my bike in front of a hot looking lady crossed my mind. It'd have to be about 10mph into a mattress factory though. That's about as far as I'd be willing to go.

@minimorecambe - I spend a lot of time in suton. My other riding mates are in Eastleigh. Nice to meet a yokel. ;)

Have to agree mate. I've heard I'll get a lot more out of the bike with new forks. Time to browse some suspension threads.

Just change the front springs & slightly heavier oil, depending on your weight improves things no end.

Don't forget the Fenda Extenda if it hasn't got one, a vital mod do this before anything else

Thanks for the advice buddy. Never heard of the Fenda Extenda, though can guess at what it is. Will be searching for that too.

We live in Hedge End

I am originally from Winch and went through the hedge end maccydee drives through far too many times in my youth. :)

Hello Wideboy mate. Thanks for putting a name to the place. I think we started by heading to the New Forest and end up there. It was a nice spot and nice ride though.

there's a few good roads in the forest you just have to find them as they're off the beaten track, 10 bends, ornamental drive ect

Hi Fallout, I live in Camberley so not far at all!

Pretty close mate. I actually live in Tadley, and I bet there's a nice route out there avoiding the M3. Some good roads around our neck of the woods. :)

Yes mate. The only thing is, all those ponies and those speed limits. But for a chilled out ride, it is quality. There's that biker friendly pub too. Can't remember it's name though?

@maviczap - Thanks chap. Added to my watch list. :)

Loomies is good with me Dean. Always a nice ride from Winch where I meet my other mates. And yeah, definitely up for making new friends and trying out new routes. Could be a plan mate. :)

The livestock make it more fun

Fallout

That rings a bell to me. I had a good sarny there. As for the livestock ... weren't there cows in the original Road Rash? They acted as ramps and were good for wicked jumps. Maybe you have a point. :D

Hi Fallout. As you can probably tell, the org is full of very friendly people. Mentally deranged to a man and woman but friendly nonetheless. And helpful too, I discovered only this evening that selling wild hedgehogs is illegal! Right, I'm off to put "Spikey" back in his hedge.....

This forum is definitely full of hedgehog loving fruitcakes. But I like hedgehogs, and I like cake. So it's all good. Very helpful peeps too. I should've joined ages ago. I've gone out for blasts by myself way too many times cos my mates have been busy. I should've built up a list of like minded SVers years ago to harass. What a spanner! ;)

Maybe give it 6 months until i stop riding like a girl! Still in that thinking about everything far too much stage, and cocking it up before i get to the tip in! Weathers not helping me confidence wise at the mo, neither is my spongy as hell, barely reactive front brake!

At least, thats my excuse and im sticking to it!!! :D

Nothing to prove to me mate. I still have a cm of chicken strips. I am an average speed rider at best, as are my mates. Actually, that's not true. One of them is shocking. :D Let's wait for the sun to start shining again anyway. ;)

Dean-J

im at about 1.5cm  But not too bad considering i've only been out in the dry 4 times since having the tyres fitted!

By the time the sun comes out ill be able to keep up :)

I reckon that's good work mate. I've had my tyres since half way through last summer. I like to lean off the bike a bit though .... that's my excuse for keeping it upright. Nothing to do with riding like an OAP.

Just South of the Last Salad Sign ;)

Alright buddy! Is that the sign with "Get your fried mars bars here" on it? Nobody seems sure if they're a myth or not. :D

Had to Google Hinckley. Basingstoke is a long way from home mate. I hope it's not some sort of hardcore commute that brings you down this way. :)

I'm guessing you're on your year in industry then mate? It's always good to meet new locals and recruit more riding buddies. Stay in touch mate. Summer is on its way. :)

I agree. They have an exact mod 1 coned setup, so you know exactly what is expected.
