Some gun action from my time in Texas.

Finally got round to buying an avi to digital convertor to convert my hi8 tapes I have off my camcorder.

This is the first one I've done, me and the wife went to Texas in 2000 on a part work ( for me) and my company at the time paid for most of it :)

Anyway, went out to my mate dans land (100 acres) for some gun toting.

I was nearly 30 years of age then ;)

My mate dan, had about 3 variants of an AK and I kept forgetting which one it was, considering hes forgot more than I'll ever know about guns, I can hardly correct him can I?

In another video I've gotta convert, we did another turntable with a shotgun, massacred it.

Actually it was further than it looks plus just behind the camera the ground sloped off (down).

It wasn't a sniper day anyway, more of a shoot the **** out of things day :)

Love the way your Mrs put most of her rounds into the ground. Was there a poor defenceless animal that needed despatching we couldn't see? :)

Its turned out way better than I expected, considering it's off 12 year old video tape, looks better than my dog cam ;)

Looks good chap. With all the mobile phone videos on YouTube, looking like they were recorded on a 1990's Casio calculator, yours is positively quality. :D Is Hi8 an analogue format then, or is it digital?

I'd been on other days and not had any jams, but every gun we used was being a pain in the butt.

I think a good squirt of light oil was needed :)

Was that a 92F your missus was firing? I have seen other pistols jam if you limp wrist them, almost like it catches up the ejected case and unejects it :-P

The poor machine though. I would have been much happier watching youse shoot up some Prince/ Sammy Hagar/ Journey vinyl. ZZtop would be in poor taste, and illegal there, obviously.


I found shooting a 9mm pistol a scary and weirdly profound experience. Then some m16 and saw. In Vegas. Never been so happy to be British after.... And was a much more respectable road user over there after.

Texas is one state where they love their guns, they have guns shows where you buy weapons, accessories and ammo etc in buildings like the halls at the NEC :)

The public arent allowed to have full auto capable weapons anymore but I did have a short burst (5 ish rounds) with a mac10 sub and the guys land we were plinking on that time, if i remember correctly, had a police issue full auto shotgun which was awesome.
I shot that few times with single hollow point round, the recoil was unbelievable, could take down an elephant.

Talking of recoil, the 0.45 pistol I fired was a shock, felt like a hand bazooka, you would struggle to be accurate from any distance with that.

My mate Dan was telling me that they did a modded spring or something that made the ak47 copies kinda auto capable, I can't remember the details tbh but he said if neighbours heard full auto being used they could report you so the rozzas would be round.

Texas is one state where, after a one day course, you can carry a concealed weapon on your person or in the car legally.
Concealed in the car can just be under a newspaper, some restaurants had 'bare no arms' signs on the entrances so you would leave it in the car.


Forgive me if I'd not identified guns correctly, I wasn't that clued up at the time on model numbers etc and it was 12 years ago, I enjoyed shooting them more than talk
