What was an original idea to me this morning might have been done to death before but I thought it might be interesting to try and describe "the one that got away" so to speak, the picture you would have taken had you have had a camera or been able to get it out quick enough etc. Ideally it should be something that you saw and thought "that would make a good picture" rather than something you imagine.
Mine would probably be the wolf moon rising over Liverpool last year and looking massive. Was driving at the time and only had my phone so it wouldn't have done it justice. The image is burnt into my mind though, along with a few others but that is probably one I regret most.
Anyone else?

Found an absolutely awesome old tree in Switzerland. It looked like it was older than Noah and smothered in lichen and mosses. Had several tries but couldn't get close to how it looked in real life.
Two actually, 5 days apart. I'd dropped my Camera in salt water a week before. Three years later it came back to life!
1) About 100 killer whales ate about 100 sea lions right in front of me whist working as a fishing guide in the Queen Charlotte islands.
2) A Killer whale took a 30lb+ salmon out of someone's hands as they tried to revive it to release it by the boat. Almost took the guy too!
We did however get these ones. I'm driving the boat...

Wow! That must have been fantastic!
I had a Tornado aircraft fly at low level towards me when I was driving on some back roads. You could hear it roaring as it got closer. Would have been so cool! Had loads of lovely framed shots at the Flying Legends at Duxford, on getting home had found the camera was on single autofocus instead of continuous so all the air shots were blurred =(

Kenzie will know where I'm talking about, I watched this do ariel stunts and flying just above head height at the old Ipswich airport.
Wasn't a show, just the owner doing random stunts at about 9 in the morning, amazing

Amazing!....I had exactly the same experience (probably at the same time). My Dad used to live nr. the old Festival Garden site which is just South of the Albert Dock. I was driving home and thought, "That moon is amazing and would make a great picture."
The only other memorable picture I should have taken was a sunset in Arbroath about 20 years ago, stood outside of my step-brother's kitchen having a smoke after dinner and there was the most amazing sunset I think I have ever seen....in Arbroath of all places! lol

Waking up on a flight back from Hong Kong at God knows what hour, seeing the sun coming up over the sea but under a wispy cloud layer. Looked decidedly odd.

When England cricketer Jonathan Trott squared up to Pakistan player Wahab Riaz during nets just before a one day international at Lord's. He had him by the throat at one point. Not one photographer got a pic because at the time it happened I was briefing them all in the media centre.
The photo of mine that has been used most widely is actually quite dull but was published all around the world and it was the day MCC first announced it was going to trial pink cricket balls. It became a big news story but I make no money from this, sadly.

What!? Why didn't you exercise some sort of copyright or usage fees? Did they just say can i have that photo and you said yes?

Sunday afternoon:
Large dog fox running along the NYMR line in front of a train.
Missed it with first effort & discovered how many shots can get on memory card!

First MCN Free Day at Brands. Kevin Schwantz accepting a comedy-sized cheque from the chairman of a "one-make club" and the b'stard compere deliberately stood in front of me and the camera. I moved - he moved. Total ****.
