Interesting stuff yoda. One minor point is that the anti drain back valve is there to ensure the engine gets oil as soon as it is started, and not wait for the filter bowl to fill. (How many people fill a new filter with oil before fitting it?)
I am not sure how much gunge would be dragged back to the sump with no filter adb valve - the reverse flow would be very slow and I would guess that not an awful lot would return as the stuff in the filter has been rammed there by a high flow rate.

So, no filter is good and you should buy adapter and use pure one. Than pure one tells you not to use that one but one made in china which guys says is garbage.
On the end they are all junk :)
My policy is to not listen to anybody and use only what factory puts on when they sell bike. I have never used anything else, been on my bikes or my cars. More OEM parts you use less likely you will have problems. Not just filters but in general. Unless some OEM part has known defect/problem than I would change it to something proven to be better.
One advice I would give along that article is to stay far away from those reusable washable filters, those are really bad.

Have for years run Hi-Flo filters without issue. Buy in bulk, cuts the unit price. Change often, keep oil clean.

I know it's overkill (so no comments please!) but I change oil every 1500-2000 miles and filter every other oil change. I've done this ever since I can remember on all matter of machinery I've ridden (There have been many). I've never seen any appreciable wear on major components. Works for me;)

similar for me, but only due to the few miles I do each year nowadays. Just fitted a hi flo today, hope Im not going to regret it!!!

Do be daft, they're not going to sell an oil filter that's not going to do its job or damage your engine, otherwise they'd find people at their door suing them for broken engines.

Only cheap Chinese copies of OEM stuff is going to be dodgy.

Stuff like the fake VW brake pads, that's sold as OEM in OEM boxes, but originated in Shanghai, is the stuff to be worried about.

I'd have no problem buying & using HiFlo, Champion or K&N disposable oil filters.
