Got a few trips planned and will probably get rained on....currently just have my Oxtars which aren't waterproof at all.
Had some RST waterproof boots last year, but 5 days in scotland proved that they weren't - and the design was crap because the lining pulled out of place when wet and now won't go back into place.
Can't really stretch to Daytona's so is there anything that works but doesn't cost the earth?

sounds like mine where the linings turned into bags to keep the water in the boots.
I had to cut the liners out in order that the water ran out. damp feet being preferable to wet.
If you find any that really work, sing their praises on the org.

Sidi Canyons - 2 and a half years old, worn all day daily including 2 ARs, still going ok if looking a bit shabby
When I need to I will be replacing with the same

Alt Bergs work, also day-long comfortable on or off bike.
Desperately old fashioned, so suit me, Sir.

Never had soggy feet in them (certainly no more than other footwear, even in summer, either from the rain outside or my feet inside.
The soles are also more like "normal" boots, so are comfortable to wear all day - ie my normal day is put them on about 7, take them off about 7, 5 days/week.

TCX infinity
Wish I hadn't sold mine after doing the AR
Buy some Sealskins waterproof socks or army surplus Gortex boot liners as a stop gap for leaky boots
i have worn carrier bags under my socks when i knew i HAD to ride in the rain and my boots werent water proof. my feet stayed dry but my socks/boots were swimming

Yes, that's the sensation I had at the AR while I was wearing my Sealskinz socks, not pleasant, but better than cold wet feet. :p

Definitely +1 for TCX boots. Mine are Goretex jobs which have withstood some serious monsoon-like conditions this year without a single fault - 6 months in are in great nick despite the abuse. Nicely made and reassuring armour although they tend to squeek like a b*****d if you don't give them a squirt of silicone every so often. Never mind, I like the Pied Piper effect!
Think mine are Competizione S GTX ones and they may have been superceded now by a new model. Think I got them for about Ģ150, possibly as the new model was imminent.
TCX Competizione S gtx, feet (not the rest of me) 100% dry after AR11 :D

when I go out trail riding, I know my boots are going to be submerged for periods of time, so no amount of waterproofing will help. However, with sealskin socks on my feet have never felt even damp

Ālpinestars SMX4+ (I think), goretex lined and they are fantastic. I have owned them since 2007 and covered over 40K miles in them. They have kept my feet dry on many monsoon rides, including last year's AR. They are the nuts IMO. The current incarnation of the boot can be seen here (http://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/alpinestars-smx4-waterproof-boots-in-black.html) and are Ģ170, which is what I paid IIRC, 5 years ago!

+1 for these - I've got the SMX 5-WPs, and I think I was the only person totally happy on the AR rideout (but a lack of spray in the face tends to do that for you). It's probably worth mentioning that I've been caught out in even heavier conditions when the weather turns suddenly, and they've never given me hassle.

Lmao, oh very good indeed :)
I got some TCX SS WP boots for about 100 new recently and they seem to work well. Nice and light too

Had these Puma boots during numerous down pours as well as walking through puddles whilst instructing CBT'ers.
NEVER leaked a drop and as comfy as a pair of trainers for walking about in.
These are gore-tex and cost me Ģ180 in summer 2007.
Highly recommended.

+1 more I've also got these and never had a drop of water in them and that includes last Dec when it poured down on me and I was soaked right through my sheltex textiles
Ive had some of these for a few months now. Didn't break the bank and ive never even had damp feet. Result!

You've had the answer you need - TCX Gore Tex!
Mine are Oxtar Gore Tex before they had to change the name. I paid 100 notes at the NEC show a couple of years ago, never had wet feet (unless greenlaning and water's gone in the top! And I've actually paddled about in fords in them and they've been as waterproof as a rubber welly boot!), and in minus temperatures I wore a normal pair of socks and never noticed cold feet.

My sidi goretex (recurring theme) have been great.
I have a few friends who swear by the alt bergs though.
black rain evo's are ok for showers and light rain but leak when it's monsoon time. they were fine when new but the i think the waterproof lining is starting to deteriorate inside, same thing happens to gloves.
think i'll go for altbergs next.

Get thisen down to Richmond & they'll put some high heels! :o and soles on so you can get that Street Triple.
If your feet are a strange shape, they do made to measure.
Must go & polish my (Altberg) walking boots.

Whats the sizing like? size 10 fits size 10 or do you need a half size up for better fit like the sidi's?
Sidi boots are a tight as feck fit. i use mine without the insoles and they fit perfecto but i have narrow feet. size up if you wear thick socks and have wide feet.

i was thinking of that. high heals and mini skirt ;)
seriously though i'm soooo tempted to get MTM ones as every review of them say they are made to last and do what they say they do.

Yep I went up a size, weren't too bad in the foot but were tight to do up over leathers. Fine under textiles though. Lasting ok so far too
