Frugus

Google can't find the place, have you got the spelling correct? It can only find Fruges, which would be a very short ride ;)

yep, even Visit France doesn't recognise it. There's Fruges but that's north of Calais. What part of the south/region?

Ha, ha, so you mean the EuroTunnel.

See me at the 8Ball one night and I will point out the" Ho-chee-min."trail,which is the route I used going to Italy [weekly] which misses out Paris and all the Peage motorway.
Most continental lorry drivers wanting to save money use this route and it is all good national roads.

You can either start from Calais or use the motorway to Peronne and jump on it from there.

Frejus is down south near the Alps-----you have the Frejus tunnel and Mount Blanc tunnel, both to Italy-----[no haz chem on the Mt Blanc so we used Frejus]

If it is the middle of summer go over the top Mt Cennis and down into Susa----follow the route to Mt Blanc but just carry on further up the pass instead of taking Mt Blanc

ahh right ok :p

I have avoided Paris on an SV by heading out of Calais towards Rouen, then Le Mans and Tours before heading South. I'm sure there would be someone to point you in the other direction around Paris ;)

Although it takes you completely down the wrong side of France. No, don't do that.

You are not going to go near Paris anyway. From the Eurotunnel you will jump straight on the A26 going south signposted towards Reims. This is the country where my wife comes from and it's nothing spectacular in terms of roads or scenery, depending on your timescales, you might want to jump straight on the A26 and head for Troyes, which will be about 3-4 hours. Otherwise just pick any non motorway route using the N roads.

Then heading south from Troyes to Dijon http://www.bestbikingroads.com/motorcycle-roads/motorbike-rides-in-france-/champagne-ardenne-/n71--troyes--_769b1.html

Dijon a wee trip into Switzerland?

Then Geneva to Grenoble break up the A41 by throwing in a mixture of these two

If you want to take in a couple of countries why not Calai--r then Brussels -Luxenburg--back into France,Col de bon --Switzerland through the pipe down into Italy that way---not really much further. So many good biking routes to italy it will be hard to choose

I'm not going to too much bike miles as the pillion seat doesn't look too friendly.
Split it in to an over night half way :) .Sort of softly softly approach as she's not too keen and wants to take a car , that's a waste as we have a shiped of mini me for a week and a half.

In that case my recommendation would be hack the first half by motorway, then get a B&B in either Dijon or Lyon, and enjoy the Alps the following day.

The road from Troyes to Dijon is fantastic:cool: But there aren't many fuel stations on it so fill up wherever you see a fuel place, I ran out:rolleyes:
