Hi guys,
Im wanting to go to the French Moto GP in Le Mans on 20th May but have never planned anything like this before so any past experiances/info would be great.
From having a look so far I think Portsmouth to Le Harve looks best??
Any recommendations on travel, where to stay etc will be great help? Unless anyone is up for planning it lol:notworthy:

I'm doing a Europe tour in May-June.
Will be going if my mate can get the time booked off for the GP

You can camp at the track can't you?, how long are you planning on going for?

We did Le Mans for the MotoGP in 2010 and had a fantastic time!
The Le Harvre crossing works well, though note that there are far fewer ferries than on the Dover/Calais route (IIRC only 1-2/day each way), so allow plenty of time to catch yours! I seem to recall running a bit late after a leisurely bimble on the backroads and a wrong turning on the motorway, and then racing through the last 30 miles at 100mph+, arriving just before the ferry doors were closed - phew!
Re accommodation, it depends on what sort of a break you want really/who you'll be going with. You can camp right by the track or alternatively get away from things a bit and stay outside of Le Mans.
We spent a few days at a fantastic old converted millhouse a short way out of Le Mans http://moulinstblaise.co.uk/index.html The owners are Brits and although they usually do self catering, they had decided to let individual rooms on a B&B basis during the MotoGP. I can't praise the accommodation and hosts enough - it really was a fantastic stay. There were some others there for the GP as well, and we had some fab evenings outside in the beautiful grounds, gassing about the racing while enjoying a BBQ and some beers. Would definitely recommend it!
BTW the nearby Loire Valley is lovely, so you can easily turn your trip nto a slightly longer touring break as well.
I'm heading out there for 3 days to go and watch it. Going out there with my dad and Brother. Travelling on the Thursday evening to Portsmouth, getting the over night ferry to Le Harve. Heaqding back on the Monday morning. Really looking forward to it
