At this time of a Friday night, the best is definitely Fosters.

Followed by a wee dram, usually either Glenmorangie or Laphroig depending on mood. Occasionally Macallans.

In a CURVY glass!

U iz juz trying to corz truble innit?

Pointys are modern, curvys are old and victorian looking, they should be scrapped now under some kind of environment issue surely?

Well Rock me Amadeus, pointy's aren't doing to well at the mo, still early days, will be interesting to see how Hinckley does ;)

The wee dram idea is a good one, glass shape who cares, another 40 minutes before I can taste that malt. Curvys are good and winning the test of time

Sv's, women and roads, Curvy is always better.

So the conclusions we can draw from the poll is:

Suzuki did make a good bike, then they ruined it with the pointy, so much so that people got rid of them for triumphs?

Nah Dave, the pointy owners are out riding them, whilst the curvy owners are at home fixing them hence have access to the computer and this poll

I'd actually be genuinely interested in why people voted the way that they did.
I have not riden a curvy - I just prefer the look of the pointy - the curvy looks so dated to me.
I'd be interested to know if there were any mechaincal or usability reasons why one is better than the other.

Curvys have got carburettors which can be a bonus for some people.
For me it just meant seized choke plungers and jets to be cleared out. I'm suspicious that the dreaded reg/rec failure is less common on pointy's too but thank's to the law of sod's am sure I'll be disproved.

I voted for Curvy, and I'm glad to see it's winning, but part of me thinks it's because most of us are too poor to afford newer bikes.

I did have a pointy, and now have a curvy. It has a better gearbox, smoother engine, feels faster (although I assume gearing) and is a pleasure to ride.

Also £1,000 a year cheaper to insure.

That's insane, my pointy's gone up recently but still not broke the £500 mark pa IIRC

Funny, I could swear my pointy's faster too.

The pointy never used to wheelie much in first/second if you got weight over the tank.

The pointy I can't keep it down even on 3/4 throttle or less in 1/2/3 it's mental.

My insurance on the pointy with 2 years NCB (but also some accidents to declare) but no points etc was £1,259.

The curvy was £231 but renewal due in a few months and I've just done a quote with 3 years NCB (so don't crash now!) and it's £169.78

I've found exactly the same but the inverse scenario. The pointy power wheelies with ease, and seems much faster and I prefer the power deliver, much more responsive. On paper I;ve found technically the pointy's faster but not as much as the difference I thought I felt and not enough to explain the power wheelies through first, second and if gunning it in third . To be honest I reckon the suspension geometry is to blame. But the feeling of extra power is definitely there. In just our two cases I'd say it's not enough to say our old bikes could have just been running foul or it could be the placebo/nu-bike effect.

As for insurance I bought the pointy mid term of a curvy policy, they wanted £30 additionally to insure it and the insurance premiums did go down if I recall correctly apart from this year when they've all become mod nazis

Which is best - why ask that about SV Pointy and Curvy?

The best one is... neither!

Or both, depending. They are so similar as to not be sensible to differentiate.

The best option is buy the Kawasaki.

Bluefish

Ah well, there's only you that think that Sid.

I don't think so, the SV is great, really great - but there's no need to ignore the reality of the circumstance.

I love SVs, choosing between the models is pointless, eulogising either is similarly pointless.

From my experience, insurance companies (who I have a very low opinion of, not just cars/bikes - don't get me onto the NHBC...) will charge whenever they get the chance and it doesn't necessarily reflect a higher risk.

As for the other points - all interesting stuff - thanks all. I have done a few minor wheelies on my pointy but that was when I got some new boots which required some adjustment to the gear lever because I kept missing gears.

And Sidney, I don't think people are eulogising the pointys/curvys, more responding to my question and their opinion of the changes.

lol, I know somebody in this house who would totally agree with that! Owning two post pointy, but then the daddy of all Kwaks can't be compared to what he calls 'my scooter'!! :smt093

had a curvy, loved it.
had a pointy, loved it more... simples.

I never walked towards the curvy thinking "thats a nice looking bike". never felt quite as sporty, often quite awkward.
The pointy I found much easier to get my head down and go for a eye watering run, but just as easy to nip in and out of traffic.
I'd have either bike again, but if I had a choice then it would be a pointy - 100%
