How much do you bet that your email address will be sold on.
You get nothing for nothing, and this is just a good example of an email harvesting system, a very good one as they have enough info to make it a VERY targeted list.
They can sort on Postcode, or they can do make and/or model of cars.
They can sell your MOT date to second-hand car places so they can contact you around the date of MOT in case you fail.
As said above - its less effort to add it to a calendar.

Yeah I just stick in my calendar now. Also the new MOT's advertise a text service albeit at a charge of £1.50 I think.
It's always irked me how you're reminded to road tax your bike but not check it's still road legal for the day. I rode mine for 5 months without an MOT before I realised last year! Oops.

I'm always wary about giving out any information, although in reality most of it can be found elsewhere if they really wanted it. As has been said you don't get something for nothing and I'm sure the data will be used for something. As for their scaremongering, "£1000 fine" yeah right, it's a £60 non-endorsable ticket, and I've never seen an insurance policy yet that stipulates the vehicle must have a current MOT.

if the powers that be allow it how about we start using the forums calendar to keep track of such things?
I popped my mot dates in my Android and it backs up to my gggle account.
Even when i had to get a new mobile,sycing the new mobile it auto updates the new one with dates as well as contacts ;)
