Yeah, but the good ones always go round a few times...
Speaking of bikes and aircraft.... has anyone else taken their Sat Nav up in a plane. I did it a while ago simply because we were flying down to Spain and I was interested in being able to plot where we were on the trip. One of the bonuses of course was that my Sat Nav displayed my top speed as 487mph for quite some time after my return...!

You do know that if you want to know where you are you just have to go to the really boring channel that shows a little picture of the plane and a map don't you? Just admit you wanted a big top speed on your SatNav why don't you.

On their scale? All it shows is roughly which country you are over.

If this wasn't completely made up then perhaps it should be more factual:
<PEDANT>
1. Tornado isn't a NATO asset. It's operated by some NATO countries but it is owned by the individual countries MOD.
2. It's a bomber or more accuratly interdictor strike (IDS) aircraft.
3. Although the Tornado will detect threats there is no automatic system to release weapons, however it can be set to automatically release counter measures.
4. Tornado doesn't carry RADAR jamming equipment.
5. Sidewinders are a heat seeking air to air weapon. You can't lock them on to RADAR ground targets.
6. ALARM is the weapon you would use against a ground RADAR target, although it's unlikely to be fitted for a low level training exercise. This is operated by the rear crew as it needs to be programmed for a specific target prior to launch.

I'm sure all the above is correct, but you need to remember that the message was directed to police headquarters so, in keeping with all such communique, factual accuracy was a low priority.

It's most likely a joke / urban myth article anyway. Was it published on April 1st by any chance?
