Cool. Why did he take a 500 on a downhill race against a guy with pedals though? It's actually his momentum that slowed him down when he hit anything rough, he'd have been better on a lighter bike.

Must admit I thought a race prepped 250 would've been better, much lighter and easier to chuck around in the tight stuff.
Still done well though, not many could get a 500cc KTM down that course that quick.

The point of the chat at the beginning was to introduce the two guys to people who may not know who they are

That video is quite a few years old, one from the archives there phil.
"Most of the GNNC riders use 2-stroke 250s since a 450 can take a hefty toll on one's endurance after three hours in the woods. Knight however, handles his 450 in the woods with the skill of a former trials rider, and benefits from extra speed in the open sections. That's a tough combination for anyone else to beat."
Quoted from http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/295/1379/Motorcycle-Article/Behind-David-Knights-KTM-450XC.aspx Knighters known for riding the 450 when others choose the lighter bike, its a kwirq that stands him out from the crowd.

Well, they say Trials riders are the most skilled of all motorcyclists. Maybe they are right.

I skipped the waffle. I would rather have them edited so we could see each bike full screen though. Two little squares split screen style sucked a bit. He did bloody well though. He was ragging it through bits I would've got off and pushed on!

Knighters a cut above, I've seen Rooney and Ronaldo play football and they've made everyone on the pitch look like amatures.
01 does that on his bikes, the kind of skill level which makes you see him do something and question how hard it actually is... only for 5minutes later his comptetors come through the same section as if just to display for you exactly how difficult it is.
When Robberrrrt and I saw him last year, he even came down to the tricky section of the course between heats to "try new things/ routes" a truely class act who deserves his place in the history books.
He's not a Rossi, Rossi had competition. He's a Schumacher, a J'Dunlop.
People race to stand next to him on the podium, not to try knock him off it.
PS I fricking love this bloke ;)... if you cant tell.

Knighter hasn't competed on a 450 for ages. He generally uses a factory spec 635 ktm. I got to know him a couple of years ago through a guy that used to spanner for him. He's an absolute gentleman.
