Merino wool thermals are imo the best.

cheers everyone. i can get very very good base layers up the road in glenrothes at Keela factory outlet.

what i'm looking for is the stuff that is diamond pattern like the now trendy barbour stuff. http://www.johnnorris.co.uk/shop/ty_126-country-clothing/10543-barbour-chelsea-sportsquilt-jacket.html but used to be supplied in things like winter fishing trousers/jackets. they used to be common as muck but for the life of me i can't get my hands on them.

my leathers were suposed to be made with a full removable set but when they arrived the awipes had only put a gillet in the jacket.

i can get the fabric no problem but i don't know anyone that sews :-(

Brookbank Canoes & Kayaks.

Undersuit there called. Got quite a few different thicknesses & materials.

Heres a few. http://www.canoesandkayaks.co.uk/index.html?action=search&searchtype=prodNameID&quicksearch=thermal&p_start=20&sortType=1&submit=next

I've shopped with them before quick postage & easy to deal with.

Just got myself a set of Under Armour Coldgear, really nice quality cold weather compression fit base layer. Really warm and very comfy under leathers (tried on in house and got sweltering quickly) but haven't actually been on the bike with them on yet. High neck will be a bonus with leathers not being.

Also got Antifreeze windproof jacket and undertrousers, not tried trousers but the jacket is seriously toasty worn under my textile jacket, I find my forearms always get cold but I actually got too hot when last out at the end of November, last year, had to open ventilation zips on my jacket! in November! Only downside is the collar is a little too bulky, but soon solved with a pair of scissors and some red thread to match the stitching.
