Hi, just a general query, i was fitting an alarm to my '61 plate Sv650s last weekend, and noticed the frame is actually just a half piece of extruded ali, not a fully extruded piece, ie look on the inside and its hollow, nothing on its inside except webbing, whereas my Fireblade and other bikes was a fully sealed one.
Why is this? Is the Sv1000 like this too?

Why? Because it was a way to save money compared to the properly built, nice looking curvy frame.
It's strong enough for the job. Too rigid and they don't handle.

YC, what are the differences between the curvy and pointy frame?

Properly designed rear linkage and appearance.
Same weight.
Not sure about stiffness, I have heard pointy described as stiffer but I doubt there's much in it.

Isn't that dismantling a little extreme to fit an alarm? But kudos on the choice of location, its been a few years since I last took a bike a part in a kitchen.

No thats not my bike thank god :) i searched google images to find one to show what i was 'trying' to describe.
Closest i've come is prepping my lower fairing in the kitchen, before and after spraying, the mess deserved a gold medal! I've dismantled my Suzuki Bandit 1200 carbs in the kitchen, high as a kite on the petrol fumes, and also cut the templates out of the Oxford Paintsaver protective laminate, but that left the kitchen worktop with score marks all over so i'm pretty much banned from using the kitchen for bike stuff now :(
