HID suggestions please.

I've got hid's in the headlights of my truck and want some on my bike. Will a h4 hid kit for a car work on a bike?
I'm looking at a 35w 10000k hid kit.
There is no harness, just the balasts, bulbs and connectors. I have this same brand in my fog lights as well. Simple plug and play setup.

Depends on the start up current as the starters generally used on cars take too much power for bike looms/electrics.
Most 'bike' HIDs have low engery soft start ballast units - like your link and a new relay loom works best to avoid volt drop through the bike wires and switches.
Also 10000K would look purple, 5000K gives best light output.
If you search on here there are guys who tried it and took them off again and some who have them.
No idea of the law either in the US. Technically they are illegal to retro fit in Europe.

I'm not sure that's strictly true.

It's illegal to fit a HID bulb in a headlight unit not designed to take one, but it's perfectly legal to replace the headlight unit with one designed for a HID bulb.

Ultimately, if the latter doesn't exist for the bike in question it will amount to the same thing, but there is a clear distinction.

Unless you replace the standard reflectors with some sort of projectors designed to take HIDs, they are a waste of effort and money IMO. Most of the extra light output will be in the form of glaring with little extra on the road and plenty to annoy the oncoming traffic. If it's better light output, upgraded bulbs like the Osram Nigh Breakers or Philips Xtreme will do better job than any HID.

If you still want to try them, they are a simple swap and the 35W don't need any relays. Best to get the 5000k as mentioned for that OEM light (which is more like 4300k).

Yea I had that same problem with my truck. I upgraded to projectors to have the full effect. Were can I get a projector kit?

what you need is some of these. i fitted them to my bike and work really well. well worth the time and money. best mod for the lights and still get through mot with no problems.

it takes about 6-8 hours to complete, but well worth it.
id say its a skill level of about 7/10 so if your not confidant id find someone who is.
