My old instructor is having a ride out tomorrow and seeing as I failed to take advantage of the good weather today, I shall be going. I believe it will be a short rideout. Here are the details:

(Andy Smith - http://www.1stclassriderblog.co.uk)

"The next Ride Out will be on Sunday the 12th of February. This will be the Fred Hill Memorial Run which is being organised by the Cardiff Branch of The Motorcycle Action Group – MAG.Fred Hill was a keen biker and a personal activist against the introduction of the law which required the compulsory wearing of a motorcycle helmet. He was booked too many times to count and was imprisoned several times as he refused to pay any of his fines. He died of heart failure in London’s Pentonville Prison in 1984 whilst serving one of these prison sentences. A full background of Fred Hill can be found at http://wadmag.mag-uk.org/fred_hill.htm but don’t click on it yet!!!!

Meeting at 10am at the Ninian Park Public House and then with a stop at Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar, before heading off to Abergavenny."

Picked up my new bike yesterday after a gap (20 yrs) and I am in love. Would love to join you but had a slip on the ice today so I think I might will wait till it is a little warmer!

Watch out up there, when I drove home yesterday, there was a mashed Z3 that had lost it and ended up kissing a lamp post by the Traveller's Rest.

Fair enough. I did my own checking and he BBC says temp should be between 5 - 7 degrees @ around 12 noon which (if correct) should help things nicely :) Link - http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2657815

Lets hope its a good one!

There's always a few nutters hanging round there anyway ;)

Went out on the Sunday and met with the MAG riders at the "Mountain Monster" snack bar as I call it. Around 30 Bikers with all different types of machines from a Moped to Harleys and Choppers. The route was back roads to Merthyr and then unto Abergavenny to you know where.

The weather was good in Cardiff, tricky over the mountains and then nice and sunny in Aber.

Split into groups on the way back. Me and three others took the scenic route up to Langorse Lake and stopped at the Red Lion where I tucked into some delicious Sea Trout and New Potatoes finished off with Sticky Toffee Pudding. The Micro-brewery is new and some good choice ales and ciders at very reasonable prices. Recommended.

Then the ride back over the mountains and down through Brecon was quite a sight. Blue skies in the valley, fog at the top clearing into frozen mountain peaks and a beautiful view on the way down the other side. Did quite a good pace through Brecon back to Cardiff on pretty clear roads. All in all a great days riding (and Wales won at the Rugby)!

Did anyone of the groups pass up the A470 about 11am?

Load of choppers passed me heading North-bound on the Sunday, wonder if it was you guys, did see an SV just before hand too...
