Hi Folks,

This has probably been discused before however:

I currently have a Mick Doohan 1998 Arai Helmet, which is old and could be doing with a new visor.

I bought a new/second hand/never worn KBC helmet last year though was very disappointed by the visibility out of it.

I used it only once as the Arai lid seemed to give much more a "side view" where the KBC seemed to reduce the "life saver" view by my guess 10% less than the Arai.

After using the Arai for a year I found this to be rather dangerous to my riding, has anyone got any info/review on visability out of a helmet? I am thinking of changing mine soon as it is old but I would like the same kind of "lifesaver visibility" without turning my head more than required.

Thanks, Steph.

I've got an HJC IS-16, mainly because it was cheap. Visibility is good, I turn my head to about 2 o'clock (12 is dead ahead) and that's fine to cover the blind spots.

Thanks for the quick reply, yeah the Arai seems to be around 2 o'clock, though the KBC is more like 3 o'clock.

Thanks :-)

It's pin lock ready too (and definately needed an anti mist insert in my case) and has an inbuilt sunvisor. Mine always mists up but others have had more joy.

I have a Shoei Qwest, and one of the selling features was a wide vision splay angle. The XR1100 is a very similar helmet more suited to sports bike position, the Qwest is better for more upright position. Might be worth a look. I can't fault the Qwest for value for money, excellent ventilation, and good pinlock visor as standard.
