I did a similar thing once after a short closure on one of our Motorways. About a dozen bikes had filtered to the front of the queue and we lined them up across all three lanes. I think they got the hint when I mentioned there wasn't anything ahead for the next 11 miles, and it would take me at least a couple of minutes to get going behind them..... Strangely enough I didn't see any of them again.
