i hate being over taken by someone on same bike, but at the same time love it.

i'm not the person to push the bike on public roads but, when i was over taken on a corner on the same lanewith someone on the same bike as me, i had to admire how he looked doing it, as i am riding the same bike its also how cool i would look.

does any have this feeling as well apart from the damaged ego that usually comes with it, which is reassured by keeping to the speed limit.

Wouldnt bother me tbh, I'd be more peeved that they were overtaking me on a corner.

its was in the spirit of biking so it didn't really matter. maybe different matter during the week on the way to work

What would've happened if you ran wide?

yeah good point i couldn't actually see him and it was pretty close but i was aware of his presents for a long time. he did catch me by surprise, but its nothing compared to what i have seen /experienced doing a bike run, eg may day run/ south end shake down etc.

I just think riding like that is reckless tbh, fair enough if you're out with mates and you know each others abilities then it's a bit more predictable.

I wouldn't be pleased, let's say that.

TBH its easier to overtake someone on a corner than on a straight.
They are not going as quick as they would normally as they are aware of you(hopefully).
And as long a your bikes faster you can get out of the corner and off down the straights to the next one that bit earlier.

If you're following someone it's pretty obvious if they're likely to run wide.

If you need to get past then just make sure you do it where you can either abort/run wider yourself/gas it up the inside of them when they run wide.

Or make the pass on brakes so you're past before they have chance to run wide.

If someone's following me and approaching, I'd let them past by moving left, so I personally don't get why a corner overtake is necessary, if you go up the trumpet of most bikers they will let you past most of the time if they aren't going the same pace.

It's not something I'd do anyway.

On a left hand bend if the rider in front has gone to the outside of his lane for visibility and his line, there wouldn't be room on that side for an overtake anyway.

Bet it looked cool - was it the cbr? Take it it wasn't white as well?
It shouldn't really damage your ego, you're not racing!

There should be no problem provided they do it safely and in a controlled manner, it has to be done sometimes when you're on a relatively low powered bike.
Will bear it in mind though :smt057

I've had a member go up the inside of me on a (mild) right hand bend before, I didn't feel endangered at any point so took it as (I think!) it was meant to be taken. Definitely wouldn't do it to a stranger...or probably ever.

You'll only get past me if I wave you past or you go on the opposite carriageway, I won't leave the room ;)

Mate, with me riding you only have to wait 5 seconds and you'd be past on the straight anyway :)

I could take you on a long straight though ;)

I can't even comprehend what you're thinking. Even if its the same bike, the other rider won't have a cold like I have or he'll know the road better than I do, or he'll be on a death wish. Doesn't make him a better rider and he's not as cool as me. NO IT DOESN'T.

If it's over 500cc, what difference does it make what bike it is? ;-)

Understandable being over taken on a racetrack. On corner on a public road? ......

And I thought this thread was going to be about your pillion flying past you on the brakes.

doesnt bother me at all. i always try to let bikes past as they are always more competant than me and i always feel under pressure that i am holding them up.

if it was safe then 'fair dooz'.

i always keep a keen eye on my mirrors for the boys in blue and people who are faster than me. if they are faster then i give them room to get by as i know how infurating it is being held up by someone who has the 'i'm out for myself stuff the rest' attitude.

yes my spell chacker is not working :-)

im always doing the same, always looking out for people getting right up behind and always got an eye out for the boys in blue. it does amaze me when people dont realise there is an unmarked car like the audis and bmw's, they stick out like a sore thumb ;)
